I stared at the man who was staring down on me, a sick smile plastered on his face. I felt my face pale the slightest bit and my heart beat increase. I was face to face with the man who purposely ran me over with his mal board, and the man who didn't give a shit about it either.
"That's a fine scab you've got there," he mused. "I reckon it will scar up nicely." His tone was scary, like a creepy old man trying to lure a small kid onto his van with lollies. His words were somewhat innocent as well as his tone, but you could hear the teasing and mocking tone behind them.
I kept my mouth closed, not daring to say anything. He cocked an eyebrow at me, waiting for me to say something but I didn't. Impatiently, he huffed, sending a small gush of air onto my face. I took a small step backwards but backed up straight into the table. I quietly cursed, wondering what to do in a situation like this.
"You know, you've got quite an interesting boyfriend," he stated casually, searching my face for an emotion. I kept my face blank but he just sparked my interest.
Did he know anything about Michael being a wolf? How did he even know we were dating? I didn't even know we were dating until he said he has the best girlfriend on the night he marked me.
As if reading my thoughts, he glanced down at my neck and surely, just above the collarbone and up slightly on my neck was the mark Michael gave me. The mark had healed rather quickly. The bright red faded a few hours after and it turned into a squiggly circle that looked like a birthmark by the next day.
"Nice birthmark," he stated once again studying my face.
"Thanks," I grit out.
"Does your boyfriend like the birthmark?" he questioned, saying mark a slight bit louder than the rest of the word.
"What do you want?" I hissed at him, straightening my posture and looking him straight in the eye.
"Many things dear," he said. "Doesn't everyone?" It was a rhetorical question which let me believe he was even more suss than before. He avoided the question but still gave me an answer.
Smug asshole, I cursed mentally.
"You know, your boyfriend and I go way back," he stated as if it were the most casual thing to talk about and as if we had been friends for years before this.
"Really?"
"Yeah. Only a few months actually." He took a small step closer to and slowly peeled the bottom half of his shirt from his torso. I didn't look down, and I kept looking him in the eye. "Take a look." He ordered, all signs of creepy casual gone.
Hesitantly, I looked down and had to stop a gasp from escaping my lips. His whole torso was scarred with teeth marks and bruises. His skin was rough and it looked as if every inch of his torso had been bitten.
My breath caught in my throat and my eyes widened. Everything fell into place and my head snapped up to meet his. "Your," I started but trailed off.
"No," I protested. I couldn't. He won if I said it and I refused to let it happen. I exhaled harshly as I felt his fist collide with my face.
"Alana, fucking admit it now before I end up hurting you more than I have to." He spat at me.
"Michael," I whispered softly. A small cry left my lips as he shoved me. I fell to the ground with a thud, my head hitting the corner of the table as I went down. Tears pooled in my eyes threatening to spill as I tried to hold them back.
My head was throbbing and I could feel my own heart beat as I pressed my hand to my head. Richard crouched down in front of me and glared me in the eyes.
"I have nothing against you, but the bastard needs to be taken care of." He harshly spoke. "This is your first and final warning. Leave him now. Don't see him again to avoid getting hurt yourself. If you refuse to take the warning, then I'll have to get rid of you when you get in my way."
My heart dropped and I stared helplessly at him. I couldn't believe this was happening.
"Tell him about this, and the bastard is dead. Keep quiet, and I'll just make him learn his lesson." With that, he stood and walked away. I watched quietly as he confidently strode to the door, exiting without a glance backwards.
I stayed sitting on the ground and pulled my knees to my chest. My head was throbbing and my jaw where he punched me was already forming a bruise. The stray tears slipped from my eyes and I took a deep breath trying to calm myself down.
