What just happened? Did Michael really do that to him? If he did why? How did he know him and what did Richard do to deserve that harsh of a punishment.

"Alana?" a questioning voice called. I instantly recognised it as Lenny and all the questions running in my mind were pushed backwards. "What the fuck happened?" he quietly asked me, anger and pity evident in his voice.

"Was it the man who just walked out the door? I saw you two talking." Lenny questioned and I nodded my head. I quickly glanced at the clock and noticed it was 15 minutes until my shift ended.

"Lenny, I need to clean up," I said frantically. Michael was coming at the end of my shift to take me home and he couldn't see me like this.

"Alana we have to tell someon-"

"NO! We can't. Just help me, please Lenny." With a reluctant sigh Lenny helped me to my feet and rushed me into the staff bathroom. I washed my face and the cut but it only made me look worse.

"Alana, we need to tell some-" Lenny tried telling me again but I harshly cut him off.

"You can't tell anyone Lenny," I pleaded. "Please, keep it between us to. Promise me you won't tell." I sounded desperate and if it were under any other circumstances I would be embarrassed. But no one else could know. I was doing this to help Michael, and I wasn't going to let him get murdered by Richard because I couldn't keep my mouth shut.

He hesitated in answering. "Alana, I think-,"

"Promise me." I said, looking him dead in the eye. "Please," I whispered.

With a loud sigh, he ran his hands over his face and through his hair. "Fine," he groaned only looking even more concerned than before.

"Say it." I demanded.

"I promise not to tell." He said. His words may have been a promise, but the way his voice was wavering slightly I couldn't be sure. I just had to trust him on this. I still let out a sigh of relief.

Fumbling with my phone, I dialled Michael with shaky hands.

"Hello love," he greeted me happily.

"Hey," I sighed into the phone. The sound of his cheerful voice relaxed me and I could help but feel sad. Was I going to take Richards warning, or stay with Michael?

"You right Love?" he questioned slightly concerned.

"Yeah, yeah. Um, Emily just called. I'm going to her house for the night and straight after work. She's picking me up so you won't need to come here." I said without stuttering. My lie sounded believable and I was proud of myself for executing it so well.

"Oh, okay." He said sadly. "You sure you're alright?" he asked again.

"Yeah," I answered. "I'll call you later?" I questioned.

"Yeah. Bye, mate." He said.

"Bye," I whispered into the phone and then hung up.

"Alana." He said, his voice monotone. Frowning slightly because usually he teases back, I went to say something but he kept talking. "I need to see you."

Those five words were ones that I was hoping I could post pone for a little while longer. A few more days was all I needed. The graze from hitting my head on the table could be covered by my hair, but the bruise from the punch was clearly there on my jaw and cheek.

"Ummm, I'm actually busy at the moment," I stated mentally shooting myself for lying once again.

"Doing what?"

"Ummm, surfing?" I answered which was more like a question. I would use the excuse of work but he knows my work roster for pick up duty.

"Well this is important." He said. "My wolf is driving me fucking insane from not seeing you and I swear I'm going to attack someone within the hour if you say no."

Although he was joking, I couldn't help but gulp. I'm not sure if Richard is innocent or guilty but the reminder of the damage he could do makes me slightly uneasy.

"I'll come to your house." He stated.

"No!" I squeaked. "I'll, I'll meet you on the beach." I said quietly.

"In 10 minutes?"

"Sure."
