Noelle replied, "You wouldn't be acting like this if you really wanted to make it up to me."

Carl looked at Noelle seriously, his eyes filled with a glint of hope. "Then how should I make it up to you, Noelle? I can abandon everything I have on the island and stay here to treat Mrs. Greene, only if you're willing to forgive me and acknowledge me as your brother again."

Noelle froze up for a moment when she met his eyes. They overlapped with his much colder gaze from her past life. She avoided his gaze and replied, "Why go so far for me? I'm not that important or anything."

"No, Noelle. To me, you're the most important person there is."

Noelle found Carl's reply incredibly strange. She turned to him and said, "But we haven't even kept in touch all these years, have we?

"Our relationship as siblings wasn't even that close, to begin with. It feels really weird with how you act like you care a lot about me."

"Do you think I'm weird?"

Noelle's eyes turned wary. "Yes, you're weird. Or rather, you have ulterior motives in mind."

The look in her eyes stabbed straight into Carl's heart. He was immediately reminded of everything that had happened in the past, leaving him with a feeling of sorrow.

He could not control his own hand as he subconsciously reached out to try and touch her face.

Noelle just dodged him immediately.

Carl's hand hovered in mid-air for a while before he slowly pulled it back to his body. "I'm sorry, Noelle. I was too busy with work to realize how hard your life was back home. I should have been much more careful.

"I shouldn't have believed what Donovan and the others said about you. I misunderstood you and caused you a lot of pain."

His eyes were filled with anguish, while intense emotions lay deep within his heart.

Noelle turned her head to the side after seeing how emotional he was. "It's already in the past."

Carl's emotions were still running high. "No. It's not in the past just yet. As for Mrs. Greene's treatment, it's not something you can decide on your own, so let's go to the hospital tomorrow."

Noelle looked at him and asked, "What can you do about it?"

"Don't worry, Noelle. I won't harm anyone that you care about."
