"Of course not. You're overthinking," Ivy said, forcing an awkward smile.

"But why do you keep insisting someone kidnapped Eason on purpose? You haven't offended anyone all these years, right?"

Mia's words were laced with sarcasm, and for a long time, Ivy couldn't come up with a reply. She hadn't expected Eason's kidnapping to shatter her composure.

Owen chimed in and tried to smooth things over, saying, "She's just really worried about Eason, Ms. Cantrell. Please don't take it to heart."

"Of course, I won't. Eason is my little brother, after all. We've gotten along well lately, and I'd be worried to see him in trouble," Mia replied.

Then, she turned to Ivy and earnestly said, "If you've offended someone or done something, you have to tell me. Otherwise, I can't help you out, can I?"

"How could you help?" Ivy snapped back. Her eyes carried a mocking glint, and she seemed unconvinced that Mia could be of any help.

Ignoring the disdain in her gaze, Mia said, "Well, I do know a lot of people, and I could probably ask the Greenes for help."

"The kidnapping happened overseas, so what can the Greenes do? Their influence doesn't reach that far."

"It's still better than sitting around doing nothing, is it? Another person means another source of help."

With that, Mia got up and announced, "We can't wait like this anymore. We should call the cops."

"No! We can't call the cops!" Owen immediately shouted.

"Why not?" Mia turned to him and asked in surprise. Her question left the atmosphere tense and quiet.

Ivy shot a sharp glare at the impulsive Owen. Forcing herself to stay calm, she turned to Mia and said, "Don't mind him."

"You're definitely hiding something. Aren't you, Ivy? But no matter what it is, we can't let anything happen to Eason."

Ivy got up, looking clearly exhausted. "I understand. Don't worry, I'll handle it."

"Where are you going? You're in danger, too, remember? The fact that they sent the phone here means they know a lot about you."
