Dominic frowned, his gaze turning colder as he noticed the waitress still standing there, looking lost and unsure of what to do.

Snapping back to her senses, she hurriedly replied, “Yes, Mr. Holloway.”

Without another glance in her direction, Dominic strode out of the bedroom.

The waitress let out a deep breath to steady herself, then turned toward Cynthia, who lay motionless on the bed. With a slight grimace, she went into the bathroom to fetch some water, gently wiped Cynthia down, and changed her into clean sleepwear.

Once everything was taken care of, the waitress tiptoed out of the bedroom and spotted Dominic sitting on the sofa, absorbed in his phone. She spoke softly, as if afraid to disturb him.

“Mr. Holloway, it’s all done.”

Dominic didn’t look up. “Alright,” he replied curtly.

She bit her lip, reluctant to leave, but finally slipped out of Dominic’s suite.

As she closed the door behind her, she tugged her skirt—no longer bothering to keep it hiked up the way she had before. Her expression soured.

Back at the front desk, she found the hotel manager chatting with a couple of other staff members. He paused mid-sentence when he saw her return.

“Finished already? That was quick, even with the cleanup,” he muttered, more to himself than anyone else.

She ignored him, sitting down at her station with a stony face.

The two other staffers had been at their posts the entire time. From the manager’s reaction, they pieced together what he’d assumed had happened upstairs.

No wonder, they thought, the manager had told them earlier to cozy up to her—that she was about to get a big break.

Clearly, the manager had misunderstood Mr. Holloway’s intentions.

The two staffers exchanged knowing smiles, but kept their thoughts to themselves.

The manager, noticing the look on her face, seemed to realize nothing had happened after all. He lost interest and wandered off, a bit disappointed by the anticlimax.

He’d hoped for some benefit by association, but in the end, it was all just a misunderstanding.
