Luke Holloway murmured his assent. "Do you need me to find out who the father of Felicity Thompson's baby is?" he asked.
Selene Thompson just smiled. "No, there's no need. I have no interest in knowing. Whatever the Thompsons do has nothing to do with me. As long as they don't drag me into their mess, we can stay out of each other's way and live our own lives."
Sunlight caught the sharp angles of Luke's face. "Let's hope the Thompsons feel the same way."

When Harrison Vaughn returned to Vaughn Enterprises, every employee he passed on the ground floor could feel the oppressive aura radiating from him.
The elevator doors opened, and Harrison strode out. As he passed the executive assistants' area, his secretary and assistants all rose to greet him, but the man walked past them without a word.
Only after he had disappeared into the CEO's office did they dare to whisper among themselves.
"What's wrong with Mr. Vaughn? I swear, he was in a fantastic mood when he left just half an hour ago."
"Who knows."
Someone muttered under their breath, "Ever since his divorce, his moods have been more unpredictable than a three-year-old's."
A few moments later, the intercom in the CEO's office buzzed.
Harrison picked it up, and his secretary's voice came through. "Mr. Vaughn, a Miss Felicity is here to see you."
"Who?" Harrison didn't even register the name at first.
The secretary repeated, "Felicity. Miss Thompson. She's in the lobby and would like to see you."
"Tell her to get lost." Harrison's tone was merciless.
Felicity hadn't been around in a long time, and he had all but forgotten she existed. The last thing he wanted was her showing up now, seeking attention. He had no patience for it.
His attitude said it all. After Harrison hung up, Secretary Burnett turned to face Felicity, who stood before him in a form-fitting black dress that made the slight swell of her belly particularly noticeable.
