Miranda barely hesitated before agreeing, "Sure, count me in."
Beck, who had just taken a sip of his plain old tap water, was caught off guard. "Wait… what? Really?"
He was stunned, then thrilled. "Seriously?"
He thought Miranda would need some time to mull it over, but here she was, agreeing right away.
Miranda nodded. "Just make sure to get me the top-notch insurance."
Beck responded, "Absolutely!"
He was over the moon. "And about the guys, I'll bring some around next time for you to check out!"
Miranda cringed a bit. "That's really not necessary."
"Oh come on, what girl doesn't love a six-foot-tall guy with a six-pack? Trust me, I get it! I'll have them around, and you can just tell me which one you fancy. Don’t you worry. You're such a catch that these guys would probably laugh in their sleep if they knew they had a chance with you!"
Miranda insisted, "Really, that's not needed."
She was mainly worried that if Elian found out, he might end up giving Beck a hard time. But Beck thought Miranda was just being shy, so he didn't take her words seriously.
In his mind, if Miranda ended up dating one of his guys, she'd be tied to him even more.
After Miranda agreed to join the department, she learned it didn't have an official name, just a codename: RapidForce.
To outsiders, RapidForce was just a department for recruiting people with unique talents, and beside it, they wasn’t so well-informed.
But her conversation with Beck gave Miranda a bit more insight into the workings of this group. By joining, she'd enjoy some pretty sweet benefits, but her main job was to complete the missions assigned to her.
The tasks weren't frequent and were tailored to each person's abilities. So Miranda didn't mind; after all, it was still about healing and making money. It was not like she had strong interest in healing common ailments.
Before leaving, Miranda had one more thing to say.
"Oh, and those guys outside my house, they can go now."
Celeste, who had been blocked, could only watch their comments but couldn't respond, which infuriated her. She eventually created another account to confront them.
But as soon as she did, she realized her new account was blocked too.
...
Celeste was shaking with anger, telling everyone Hugo and his friends had been misled by Miranda. But not many believed her anymore.
Everyone had internet access, and Hugo and his friends' praise for Miranda helped dissolve any biases against her in the city.
Moreover, there was now an unspoken rule in the circle, “Don't mess with Miranda.” This rule had been set by the elders. They didn't fully understand, but they were scared.
Celeste's previous attempts to badmouth Miranda online had been drowned out by a flood of comments orchestrated by Marion.
The Sterling family, afraid Celeste might cause trouble, had even confiscated her accounts. "I've told you countless times not to provoke her. Why don't you ever listen?" Mr. Sterling scolded furiously.

The readers' comments on the novel: Kiss My Revenge The Heiress Strikes Back
In what world was it ever okay for people to like people who hit and punch them? Miranda deserves someone who doesn't hit people, she needs someone who commands respect through kindness, who could show her a world where people respond more to kindness. All this shows is that it's all about money. There was no character development for Elian. He is the typical boring man, tough but soft for the heroine. Seb is the typical mysterious, quiet and strong. Can you introduce another character who would really pique Miranda's interest from the start please. All the stories I've ever read are about strong people getting together, kings, alphas, queens, powered individuals. What about someone ordinary but not too ordinary, someone middle class but hard-working, someone relatable? Okay ,rant over, bye...
I liked it before but her choosi g Elian made it boring pretty fast. He is too childish in front of her. It's your story though. I was hoping she'd neither choose Elian nor Sebastian but someone else. They are now too overpowered, it was getting redundant to read that they're the best at everything. Too much of a power couple is too much. Bye!...
Will there be an update soon please...
