Perhaps it was because she had brought up someone she disliked that Sunny's tone turned icy. "That man had the nerve to ask for my forgiveness. He claimed he loved me, that his past shortcomings made it hard for him to admit his feelings, that he didn't know how to love, and that's why he allowed Arabella to treat me the way she did. He just wanted me to beg for him, to love him."

She spoke the words without a trace of emotion, as if she were a machine reciting lines.

It was as if she was talking about something that had nothing to do with her.

She let out a cold laugh. "He said it was all his own doing, and he knows he was wrong."

"I told him that I actually did love him once, but he was the one who shattered it all. So I can never forgive him. He destroyed everything himself. He's the reason I don't love him anymore, and frankly, I hope he rots."

Miranda recalled that a couple of days ago, she'd heard from Zephra Prison that Dorian had suddenly lost his mind. Now she understood why.

"In truth, I never loved him," Sunny said calmly. "I was just infatuated in my youth, but that infatuation was like the wind, passing by in a moment. The reason I said those things was to make him realize that he destroyed the happiness he could have had, to make him suffer and live in torment for the rest of his life. A man like him deserves to spend his days in self-torment and agony."

"And his sister, Arabella," Sunny chuckled. "Seeing her in hysterics, with nothing left, I’m glad she’s finally getting what she deserves."

"What's done is done," Wendy comforted her. "From now on, our world will be free of these people."

Miranda nodded and smiled. "Wendy's right. Let's welcome a new beginning, Sunny."

Sunny smiled back. "I know. I won't let you down. Or Wendy."

Taking advantage of their rare meet-up, Miranda invited them to lunch.

There happened to be a mall nearby.

Miranda led them to an upscale restaurant and ordered a table full of dishes.

At first, the two were a bit reserved, but gradually they loosened up and relaxed.

"Miranda, you're the best! By the way, aren't you taking any more gigs?" Wendy asked between bites.
