As soon as Miranda took the check, the bodyguard finally sighed in relief.
"Ms. Lancaster, rest assured, it won't happen again. We'll keep a close watch on the young lady. Mr. Sterling said if you ever need anything, just give him a call. Here's his card." He handed over a business card from Celeste's father.
Miranda accepted the card, acknowledging the courtesy from the Sterling family. She decided not to give the bodyguard a hard time, considering the elders were handling it well.
“Got it,” she nodded.
The bodyguard smiled, nodding back. "We won't disturb you and your friends while you enjoy your meal."
He then called over the restaurant manager and whispered a few things to him. The manager nodded fervently, looking like he was agreeing to everything.
“Rest assured, today’s security footage will be thoroughly handled,” the manager assured.
With a nod, the bodyguard said his goodbyes to Miranda before heading over to where Hugo was seated. “Thanks for the heads-up today, Mr. Bartley.”
Hugo grinned, “No problem.”
After expressing his gratitude to Hugo, the bodyguard left. Hugo waved his phone at Miranda, a triumphant look on his face. It clicked for Miranda why the Sterling family had shown up so quickly. Hugo had ratted them out.
But she didn't expect the Sterlings to handle the situation so swiftly and without shielding Celeste. They even compensated her generously. No wonder the Sterling family had been a cornerstone in Virell for so many years. They had the clout to ensure Celeste’s smooth sailing in the entertainment industry while maintaining her reputation with the media and companies.
Miranda thought to herself, the Sterling family was indeed competent, though they had somehow raised a daughter like Celeste, who was a bit of a loose cannon. Must be some kind of genetic anomaly, she mused.
She glanced around at the other diners. Several people had recorded the earlier scene on their phones, likely eager to share with friends. But with the Sterlings involved, those videos would soon vanish from devices and the internet.
Miranda acknowledged Hugo with a nod, and he returned to his conversation with his business partner.
“Where were we?” he asked. “Mr. Jones?”
Mr. Jones was still looking at Miranda, a bit starstruck.
Miranda understood the real reason for the Sterling family’s deference. It likely had something to do with those influential figures she had helped. Based on the latest data, patients who had taken her treatments were recovering well. Mr. Ashcroft had even sent her an excited voice message, along with others she had aided, promising she’d never face trouble in Virell.
She had been busy reviewing cases at the time, so she just casually replied to their messages. But seeing how the Sterlings treated her today, she suspected these influential figures had put in a good word for her. Otherwise, with her current public persona, the Sterlings wouldn't have been so accommodating. They were a tough lot, not one to bow easily, even to the Lancaster Group.
After lunch, as Miranda parted ways with Wendy and Sunny at the mall, something caught her attention. A man passing by exuded an unusually familiar aura.
"Miranda, we’re heading back to the office," Wendy called out cheerfully.
Miranda nodded, her mind still on the stranger. But when she turned to look again, he was gone. She frowned, feeling unsettled, then turned to leave.
A sleek black sedan suddenly came to a halt right in front of her.
As the window rolled down, she caught sight of the man behind the wheel. Instantly, her furrowed brow relaxed a little.

The readers' comments on the novel: Kiss My Revenge The Heiress Strikes Back
In what world was it ever okay for people to like people who hit and punch them? Miranda deserves someone who doesn't hit people, she needs someone who commands respect through kindness, who could show her a world where people respond more to kindness. All this shows is that it's all about money. There was no character development for Elian. He is the typical boring man, tough but soft for the heroine. Seb is the typical mysterious, quiet and strong. Can you introduce another character who would really pique Miranda's interest from the start please. All the stories I've ever read are about strong people getting together, kings, alphas, queens, powered individuals. What about someone ordinary but not too ordinary, someone middle class but hard-working, someone relatable? Okay ,rant over, bye...
I liked it before but her choosi g Elian made it boring pretty fast. He is too childish in front of her. It's your story though. I was hoping she'd neither choose Elian nor Sebastian but someone else. They are now too overpowered, it was getting redundant to read that they're the best at everything. Too much of a power couple is too much. Bye!...
Will there be an update soon please...
