Current Time

Izzy stepped into the hallway, spotting Ian’s rushed figure heading straight toward the living room.

“What’s going on?” she asked, brows furrowed. “Ian, you’re scaring me.”

He didn’t stop moving. “You need to pack your things. Right now. Where’s your room? I’ll help you. You need to leave, now.”

“Pack?” Izzy repeated, confused. “Leave?”

Ian turned to Maria without missing a beat. “Help her. She has to go.”

“Wait—what are you talking about?” Izzy stepped back slightly, looking between them. “Go where?”

“It’s Liam… he’s the one doing all this.”

“Huh?” Izzy blinked. “What do you mean?”

“He’s been lying to you, Izzy. He manipulated you into resigning. He wanted control of your shares. It’s all part of his plan to take the company.”

Maria stepped between them. “Ian, stop. You’re not making any sense.”

“I’m making perfect sense,” he snapped. “You just refuse to see it. He’s using her. Just like everyone else did.”

“That’s not true,” Maria said. “Liam stood by her through everything. He helped stabilize both companies.”

Ian’s eyes locked on Izzy. “That’s what he wanted you to think. He made himself look like the victim, so you’d trust him. The press, the board, Cassandra—all of it, orchestrated. He’s pulling strings while you play house with him.”

Izzy shook her head slowly. “No… Liam wouldn’t do that. He wouldn’t.”

“He already has,” Ian said. “You just don’t want to believe it.”

Maria stepped in again, firm. “You’re being irrational. Izzy made her choice. You don’t get to rewrite reality because it didn’t go your way.”

“I’m saving her,” Ian said. “She doesn’t see it now. But she will.”

Izzy stepped further back. “Ian, you’re scaring me.”

He looked at Maria.

Then without warning, he grabbed the heavy ceramic vase from the hallway table and slammed it into the side of Maria’s head. The sound was sickening. The vase shattered. Maria collapsed instantly.

Izzy screamed, stumbling backward, hitting the wall.

“Stop! What are you doing?!” she shouted.

Ian didn’t move toward her. He looked down at Maria’s unconscious form, chest heaving. Then his eyes shifted back to Izzy.

“You don’t understand now,” he said. “But I’m saving you.”

Izzy’s hands fumbled for her phone.

“Don’t,” Ian said. “Just come with me. Please.”

She didn’t answer. Her eyes darted to Maria. Blood was starting to pool beneath her head.

Ian stepped closer.

Izzy turned and bolted into the next room, slamming the door behind her and locking it.

“Izzy!” Ian shouted. “Open the door!”

Inside, Izzy grabbed her phone and hit emergency services.

She backed into the corner, breathing hard.

She tried to dial again, and that was when she realized there was no reception in the mansion.

Izzy pressed the emergency button again, but the screen showed no signal. No bars. No connection. She moved toward the window, holding the phone up. Nothing.

“I cut the signal,” Ian said from behind the door. “No cell, no Wi-Fi. It’s a jammer. I didn’t want anyone interfering.”

Izzy stepped further back, eyes still fixed on the screen. “Ian, stop this. Whatever it is you’re doing—just stop.”

He didn’t answer.

She turned and looked out the window. Her stomach dropped.

There were men outside—dressed in black, unmoving, positioned at different corners of the property. One of them looked up, and their eyes locked. He didn’t flinch.

“Izzy,” Ian said again. “Open the door. You’re not safe.”

She grabbed an object from her pocket and clutched it tightly, hiding it from his view.

Then a loud thud shook the door.

She jumped, eyes darting toward the noise.

Another thud—harder this time. It wasn’t a foot or fist. It was metal.
