He and Tyrone were both after Alicia. Vincent wasn’t about to let go—he’d fight to win—but even he had his limits. No matter how fierce the rivalry, he wouldn’t stoop so low as to kick Tyrone when he was already down.

Besides, looking at Tyrone now, Vincent just felt sorry for him.

After all, he was in the same sinking boat.

“Tyrone, you’re far too confident in your own position. Do you really believe that being the only son of the Lynch family guarantees your place at the top? You think your grandfather will never let Marcus come back?” Vincent’s voice dripped with sarcasm, throwing Tyrone’s complacency right back at him.

From the very beginning, he should have kept a tighter grip on the Lynch Corporation’s shares and succession rights.

“Alicia, Tyrone’s not the heir of the Lynch Corporation anymore. How does it feel, falling from those dizzying heights?” Mina chimed in, her laughter cold as ice. “You two are just getting a taste of what hell feels like. Think about all the people you’ve crossed over the years. How many are out there, just waiting to watch you crash and burn?”

Alicia shot Mina a withering glare. She’d spent enough time around Tyrone to have picked up his sharp tongue. “I have no idea about other people, but your little show is definitely entertaining. We’ve had a good laugh over it. Vincent already broke off your engagement, and you still try to play the victim? At least my husband only lost management of the Lynch Corporation. Your Holloway family is actually on the verge of bankruptcy.”

She wasn’t wrong. Tyrone may have handed over the Lynch Corporation’s reins, but the Lynch family was still standing.

Mina’s support, on the other hand, was crumbling—and Vincent wanted nothing to do with her.

When you looked at it like that, who really had it worse?

Mina’s face turned a furious shade as she clenched her fists so tightly her knuckles went white, as if she could strangle Alicia with sheer willpower.

“Alicia, let’s see how long you can keep up this smug act.” Mina sneered.

Everyone knew Tyrone was no longer CEO of the Lynch Corporation. The world was full of people who loved to kick you when you’re down.

“Annie, when you have a moment, could we talk?” Vincent’s tone softened as he tried to catch Alicia’s attention.

If she was willing, he’d be willing to help Tyrone. He’d protect her too.

“I know exactly what it means,” Alicia answered, her gaze unwavering as she looked at Vincent. “It means I’ll finally see who’s truly human and who’s just pretending. It means we’ll stumble, we’ll fall, we’ll hit rock bottom. But none of that matters. Whether Tyrone is at the top or down in the dirt, I’ll stand by him—because I love him. And he’s never once treated me with anything less than respect.” She finished, then took Tyrone’s hand and walked away without looking back.

It was Tyrone who had found her at her lowest, who’d given her stability and helped her out of the darkness.

If that meant spending her life with him—even if the rest of it was spent in the shadows—she was willing.

Vincent stood frozen, every muscle in his body tense.

In that moment, all his past actions suddenly seemed laughable.

Maybe… Alicia would never forgive him.

Unless, somehow, Alicia forgot about Tyrone altogether.
