It was a shame—Tyrone just couldn’t bring himself to be truly ruthless.

In the end, he softened.

But his grandfather was completely obsessed now, possessed by some blind devotion to his son and nothing else.

“It doesn’t matter. No matter how much he leaves behind, Marcus will burn through it all eventually. It’s only a matter of time,” Tyrone said, voice tight.

He forced a cold laugh, but his eyes shimmered with unshed tears.

This was his grandfather.

From this moment, whatever family bond remained between them was severed.

All those years of care and gratitude—Tyrone was finally able to let them go.

“Sir, this isn’t about Marcus squandering the inheritance. It’s that...it should have been yours all along,” the butler said quietly, unable to hide his frustration for Tyrone’s sake. “You were the one who saved Lynch Corporation, who kept the family afloat. Without you, everything would have been lost years ago...”

Tyrone said nothing. He simply leaned back, fingers gently weaving through Alicia’s hair.

Sensing his turmoil, Alicia pulled him close, holding him tight.

“I don’t care anymore.” After a long pause, Tyrone finally spoke. Just four simple words.

He truly didn’t care.

BEEP. BEEP. BEEP.

Suddenly, a shrill alarm blared on the phone, followed by the butler’s panicked voice before the call abruptly ended.

Clearly, something had happened on the old man’s end.

But Tyrone felt strangely calm.

He said nothing, only held Alicia in his arms, eyes closing as he let his head rest against hers.

All those years he’d given—the old man had seen nothing but a threat, a rival to outmaneuver.

Tyrone let out a bitter, mocking laugh.

Marcus spat in fury. “That lunatic—he wants me dead!”

Brandon nodded sympathetically. “Marcus, you can’t let Tyrone stay in the picture. As long as he’s around, you’ll never be safe. I heard he even killed his own mother back in the day... Do you really think he’ll let you off the hook?”

A flicker of fear crossed Marcus’s face.

He knew it was true.

“And rumor has it, the old man was about to change his will and leave it all to you,” Brandon added, glancing meaningfully at the lawyer.

The lawyer nodded. “I’m one of the attorneys handling the will. In the hospital, the old man did ask to amend it—he wanted everything to go to you.”

Marcus’s face lit up. “For real? The will—”

The lawyer shook his head with regret. “Unfortunately, before he could record the new will, his condition worsened and he fell into a coma. We’ll have to wait for him to wake up.”

Marcus slapped his knee in frustration. “What are we waiting for? Let’s get to the hospital! I don’t care what it takes—shots, drugs, whatever—just get him awake!”
