This earned him a fit of laughter from me.
"What's so funny?" I instantly stopped laughing, and turned my face towards the entrance door, and there he stood in his morning glory- the one and only Adrian Henderson. His gaze was focused on me, and he was smiling.
"Oh she was just about to say yes to a date with me. This Sunday to be more precise." This wiped the smile off Adrian' s face.
What? What?? I clearly said no!
This caused me to glare at Lucas. I knew he was a total flirt, but saying that infront of Adrian!
Dammit, Emily get a hold on yourself, Adrian is not your boyfriend! But he is the boss! And office romance might not even be allowed. Adrian's gaze darkened as he stared between me and Lucas. And my throat went dry. Completely dry. Couldn't even deny the fact that I said no to the date.
"Oh, so this is what has been going on in my absence." He said capturing my eyes, more like burning holes in them- if thats possible.
"Games."
"Woah chill man." Lucas said raising his hands.
"What is it to you anyways?" Adrian's face was beet red by now. Please don't continue Lucas. I was practically pleading him to stop using my eyes. "It's not like she's your girlfriend." This guy does not understand body language at all.
I just stared at my hands, refusing to make eye contact with either of the guys.
"Oh please. You guys can date for all I care. Want my blessings? Well you both can have my blessings anyways. But as a boss, I can't allow you guys to freely flirt in the office. Office romance is like taboo, and you know that Lucas. So take this to your homes or wherever you both are going for your date. Just know that if it effects your work, then it won't be good."
And just like that, he left. I mouthed a 'it's your fault' at Lucas who just shrugged in response and opened his mouth to say something, but I got up and followed Adrian's retreating figure before Lucas could say something.

"Wait Adrian! I mean Mr Henderson!" I yelled, running towards him. He suddenly stopped in his heels, causing me to bump into him, and lose balance ofcourse, but Lucas was wrong when he said that my life is some wattpad story, I didn't fall into his arms, like the protagonist 'accidentally' does, and no Adrian did not catch me, I fell on my knees in the corridor. Putting the pain aside, I was utterly embarrassed and humiliated infront of my boss.
"Oh you're so right." Finally he accepts defeat!
"He wasn't flirting with you, I mean what's the need to flirt when the feelings are mutual. That was a normal conversation between lovers right?"
But he didn't even hear the conversation. Crazy guy. I was really hurt now, I'm sure it was evitable from my facial expression, since his glare softened a bit. And I started staring at me feet.
"Um sorry, I don't know why I reacted so much and accused you guys- sorry okay." He said scratching the back of his head. "As a boss, I got angry since office romance is not allowed, dating has a negative impact on office work. Especially when both are working in the same room. I have fired many men and women for such a deed, even though they worked in different departments, why should I make an exception for my best friend or best man's daughter-"
I interrupted him before he could finish. "But. We. Were. Not. Flirting. And. IRejectedHimWhenHeAskedMeOut." I don't know why but I felt like I needed to inform him of the latter as well.
"What? Repeat the last part."
"No." I replied averting my gaze, anywhere but his eyes. Wow, the wall is so pretty. Cream white. That is the same color as the walls in my bathroom.
