He made several puns after that, some really bad, some actually good. I was in hysterics by the time we reached the top.
Thank god! Staying any longer with this guy in the elevator would make me go crazy!
I let out a sigh of relief and stepped out.
"Someone sure seems relieved to get off that ride. Oh come on, I'm not that bad." He said winking in my direction.
"Lucas, I need to meet my boss now." I smiled.
"Ofcourse you do. Follow me. I'll lead you to the office."
This floor was pretty much empty and honestly the only door I saw yesterday was Adrian's office. Or was it Lucas' office? How did this idiot even get a job here.
Speaking of job.
"Hey Lucas." I said trying to catch up with him. Why was he walking so fast?
"What is it now?"
"I just recalled something. And it actually sounds believable now." I said laughing.
"Go on."
"Well your sister Sarah, told me that word vomiting runs in her family. And well she mentioned her brother whose job interview didn't go well due to this habit. Oh god Lucas. I had no idea that you have a habit of word vomiting too."
We finally reached the office door and when I looked at him, he was smiling.
"Sarah told you that? That girl can't stomach anything at all." He said facepalming. "And that brother wasn't me. It was Lark. My younger bro." Then he glanced at his watch.
"I'd seriously love to continue this chat, but you're going to be late then." He opened the door for me to enter, then he came inside and closed the door.
Wow. Just wow.
The office was huge! The cream colored walls contrasted wonderfully with the golden colored curtains. There were two desks. Both at the extreme sides. I was at a loss of words. How can an office room be so beautiful. It seemed so royal. Who am I kidding. This is the Henderson Corporation that we're talking about.
"That is your desk over there. Adrian will assign you some work. He'll probably give you some files to go through. That's where you will sit." He said suddenly sounding really professional.
"And let's keep our friendship and work separate from each other. I don't want any hindrance during my work. Please try to understand." Well that didn't sound rude at all. Friendship? My foot.
This jerk is not capable of my friendship.
"I completely understand. So where do I get started." I said in a tone similar to his.
He was angry. Is it because of our conversation yesterday? Is he still mad about that? Oh god no. This can't be happening.
Calm down Emily. It's because he felt like slamming his desk. Yep. He felt like slamming it because he was extremely bored. Or maybe he did so because of the fly that sat on his desk. Wait why would a fly enter such a clean, air conditioned place where the windows are closed.
Oh ofcourse a mosquito entered his room through the door knob. Must have entered with us. Why didn't I think of that before? Stupid Emily.
"Is everything alright inside?" Me and Lucas both asked in sync.
He let out a loud embarrassed laughter. Figures. He couldn't kill the god damn mosquito. Now that was funny.
"Yeah everything's perfectly fine. Let her in."
And then I walked in, and gave him a smile. Trying my best to suppress my laughter.
At first he just stared at me as if I've grown two heads. Then he cleared his throat. "Right on time Emily. Please have a seat."
So I sat down infront of him. Oh please. No more mosquitoes. If you know what I mean.
Emily
I kept toying with my hair, rolling a curl around my index finger, then unrolling it as he went through a file. Was it my personal file? Dude, why do you have to raise it so high?
