The Conference Room.

Stepping out of the restroom, Alicia let out a massive sigh of relief. The test was negative. Her upset stomach was probably just stress.

Poor Tyrone. She had completely chewed him out for nothing. He was probably going to be terrified to even touch her for weeks.

"Send Susanna in," Alicia said, taking a seat at the head of the table.

Susanna walked in wearing a cream-colored designer suit. It screamed old money. Alicia recognized the brand immediately; the outfit easily cost upwards of forty thousand dollars.

It had to be a custom piece Clayton had ordered for her.

Susanna sat across from Alicia, her eyes practically sparkling with smug superiority. She was desperate to make sure everyone knew just how special and cherished she was to Clayton.

Alicia simply smiled at her. For some reason, looking at Susanna gave her a profound sense of déjà vu—it was exactly like dealing with the fake Nicole White all over again.

"Director White, my name is Susanna. I'm sure you know about my relationship with Clayton," Susanna began, her voice dripping with artificial sweetness. "But I came here without telling him. He insists he can take care of me, but I really believe a woman should have her own career instead of relying on a man. Please, you have to promise not to tell him! He'd be so upset to see me working."

Alicia watched her calmly, the polite smile never leaving her lips.

Felix had been spot on. The woman was radiating a toxic, manipulative energy. Every word out of her mouth was about independence, yet somehow every sentence looped right back to Clayton.

"I've heard of you. You mean a great deal to him," Alicia said, feigning hesitation. "If you want to work here, I'll definitely have to clear it with him first."

Susanna sighed dramatically, adopting a pained expression. "Miss Shelton, Clayton told me about the tension between you and Jade. There are some things... well, I don't know if I should say them."

Her ultimate goal was simply to drive a wedge between the two women. She couldn't care less about actually getting the job.

Alicia's fingers paused over her phone. She met Susanna's gaze. "Go ahead."

"Jade is doing everything in her power to stay at Clayton's place, constantly using Patriarch Reginald White's past favors to manipulate him," Susanna whispered, glancing around the room as if someone might be listening. "She's always badmouthing you, trying to turn Clayton against you. And... I even overheard her on the phone with her father, Brandon. They were talking about some sort of plan, and how she had to play the victim..."
