“Margaret, Margaret!”

William rushed to Margaret immediately, trembling as he grasped her cold hand. His eyes were bloodshot as he looked at the doctor. “Why hasn’t she woken up? Her hand is so cold! Didn’t you treat her properly?”

The doctor tried to calm him down. “Mr. Bradford, please, we did everything we could to save Miss Margaret’s life. She is just too weak, and whether or not she will regain consciousness is uncertain.”

“You should prepare yourself. It might be necessary to make arrangements for Miss Margaret’s... future,” the doctor continued, trying to be as gentle as possible.

But William could not accept it. His eyes blazed with fury. “Margaret will not die! It's your incompetence!”

“Get me the best doctors in the world, no matter the cost, I’ll pay whatever it takes to save her!” William’s voice cracked with desperation.

“And if she dies, I’ll hold your hospital responsible!”

The doctor, taken aback by William's madness, quickly instructed the nurse to take Margaret to her room and rushed to contact the most renowned experts in bone cancer worldwide.

William followed them to the room.

“William, stop!”

Before he could enter, Benjamin stormed over, grabbing William by the collar in a fit of rage. “Get out! You have no right to come near Margaret! You’re the one who did this to her!”

William clenched his jaw, glaring at Benjamin before forcefully pushing him away. “Whether I have the right or not is none of your business!”

“Throw Benjamin out of the hospital! He doesn’t get to take another step!”

As soon as William finished speaking, his bodyguards stepped forward, covering Benjamin’s mouth and dragging him away.

The hallway fell into silence once more.

The nurse had also left.

William walked into the quiet room, his gaze falling on Margaret, who lay deathly pale, showing no sign of life. The anger and hostility he had shown earlier vanished in an instant.

William coughed lightly, trying to regain composure, and stood up to let them through. “Come in.”

The nurses entered carefully and began checking on Margaret.

As expected, Margaret’s injuries were too severe for her to wake up.

A wave of hopelessness passed through William’s eyes.

“Mr. Bradford, you should also pay attention to your own health,” one of the nurses suggested gently.

“I?” William smiled bitterly, his lips curling slightly. “I’m fine.”

“Are you?”

The nurse handed him a mirror, and when William looked into it, he saw his reflection—his hair had turned gray.
