"Shit! Olive!"
I heard Atlas scream. But, I am too tired to even look around. I can't even open my eyes anymore. I just felt Trina stopped kicking me. I guess she got tired? Or maybe she already left? Either of the two, I still don't feel safe.
I am still holding my belly while lying on the floor. I'm sobbing softly when someone grabbed me from behind. I know that it was a man, basing from his arm. I confirmed who it was when I smelled his perfume.
In my blurry vision, I saw Atlas' face. But, I can't open my eyes fully because of the unbearable pain. I groaned and closed my eyes again. I can't take it anymore, but I have to.
"Shit! You're bleeding!" he said hysterically. I may not see him, but I can feel the worry laced in his voice. I felt him placing me at a soft thing. Without any strength left, I leaned my back on it.
I flinched when I felt my stomach hurt. I felt so exhausted. I tried to calm myself down. I need to be strong. I want to be strong for my baby.
"A-Atlas! My baby--"
"Shit! Hold tight, love!" he said, panicking.
After a while, he quickly started the engine of the car and drove to somewhere. I felt him touch my hand. I heard him cursed nonstop. His curses were expletive. I can hear his agony. I tried not to sleep but the inevitable feeling succumbed inside my being. I slowly closed my eyes and became oblivious of everything.
I woke up inside a hospital. My body is still aching but it is more bearable than the last time. When I roamed my eyes around, I saw white everywhere. The usual interior of a private room in the hospital. I also saw Daddy looking at me. He was holding my hand. Concern was written in his whole face.
"D-Dad! My baby..." I asked. My voice cracked and I'm on the verge of crying.
"It's fine, princess. No need to worry," he answered. He removed his hand from mine and touched my forehead. "Good thing you're already awake. You made me worried. You slept for three days," he muttered.
I was surprised to hear that from Dad, but I nodded. Maybe my body needed to rest from too much exhaustion from being beaten up. The important thing is, my baby's safe.
"You're stronger than Mama," I whispered while caressing my stomach. I looked at Dad and smiled. He nodded and smiled back at me.
We were in that position when the door opened. I instantly looked at the door and saw Atlas, heading towards our direction. Holding a basket in his right hand. His eyes looked directly through me. Piercing through my soul but I knew better. I looked at him with the same intensity.
"What are you doing here?" I asked when he got closer beside Dad. "Dad?" I turned to my father.
"Can you please stop being sarcastic? Let's talk properly, Olive!" Atlas reprimanded.
"We don't have anything to talk about, Atlas! We're done!" I said.
"What about the baby?" he irritably said.
I laughed sarcastically and looked at Atlas with disbelief. I suddenly remembered how I felt when he first said that he would never want a child with me. That was our wedding night. He slapped me with his words and left me in the room crying.
"You have nothing to do with it. I can raise my child alone," I said with bravery. I looked intently through his eyes. I am certain and determined to keep him away from me. Away from my baby.
"That's bullshit, Olive!" his voice thundered. He went closer to my bed while his fist was clenching. I can feel his rage. "Don't you think it's unfair, Olive?"
"What's unfair was when I loved you but you only gave me pain!" I touched my belly. "I don't want you and your mistress to hurt my child, Atlas. I don't want my baby to experience what I did." I paused. I can feel my heart ache. The lump in my throat is inevitable.
