“Relax,” I whisper in her ear.

“What if …” she begins.

I bite down on her ear, a gentle show of dominance. “Relax.”

She nods and leans back against me. I entwined our fingers together, giving her something to hold on to while our friends and family sat around the firepit with us, waiting for midnight.
