Juliana snatched up the knife, and even Sandy’s face went pale.

Mrs. Goad, terrified but still protective of Sandy and her unborn child, stood blocking the doorway. Her voice trembled as she warned Juliana, “Put the knife down, Juliana. Are you out of your mind?”

“Out of my mind? That’s right!” Juliana screamed, the words raw with pain. “Your precious Stranz family pushed me to the edge! Who gave you the right to treat me like garbage?” She glared at Sandy, her voice cracking. “You stole my husband, Sandy. I swear, I’ll make you pay!”

“Juliana, please—calm down. I’m pregnant with Wesley’s child,” Sandy said aloud, voice all concern, though inside she was practically grinning. She threw in the mention of the baby on purpose, wanting to push Juliana over the edge.

The second Juliana heard that Sandy was pregnant with Scott’s child, her rage hit boiling point. She lunged, knife slashing toward Sandy.

Sandy darted back, but not before steering Juliana toward Mrs. Goad. In the chaos, just as Juliana thrust the knife, Sandy shoved Mrs. Goad in front, using her as a shield.

If Juliana hurt Mrs. Goad, she’d go to jail—leaving no one to stand in Sandy’s way to become the next Mrs. Stranz.

But right as disaster was about to strike, Scott burst in and grabbed Juliana’s wrist, stopping the blade cold.

Bare-handed, he caught the knife. Blood instantly welled up from his palm. With a grimace, Scott yanked the weapon out of Juliana’s grasp and tossed it aside, barking at her, “Juliana, have you lost your mind?”

Juliana stared at his bloodied hand. She didn’t care about her own trouble, didn’t even bother blaming him for cheating. All she could do was rush to his side, panic in her voice. “You’re bleeding! Come on, let’s get you to the hospital!”

Mrs. Goad, still reeling from her near-miss, couldn’t move.

Sandy, seeing Mrs. Goad unharmed, felt a flash of disappointment. If only Scott hadn’t shown up, Juliana would have been finished.

“Scott, let me see!” Sandy rushed over, fake tears streaming as she clung to his arm. “Let me take you to the hospital, please.”

The syrupy way she called him “Scott” made Juliana’s stomach churn. She’d never called him anything like that.

Mrs. Goad, furious at her son’s injury, turned on Juliana. “How dare you hurt my son! Scott, why are you keeping a woman like this around? Divorce her! Who knows what she’ll try next? She tried to hurt Sandy—she’s completely unhinged!”
