“Sandy,” Scott said quietly, wrapping his hand around hers, “I already know.”

“You know?” Sandy’s eyes widened, caught off guard. “Aren’t you mad? I lied to you.”

“How could I be mad?” Scott’s voice was gentle. “If anything, I just wish I’d met you sooner. Honestly, I’m still surprised by myself—how quickly you’ve become my whole world, how fast I’ve fallen for you. I want to give you everything, no matter what it costs. You deserve it, Sandy. Stay with me. I’ll protect you. I’ll give you the family you’ve always wanted.”

He meant every word, and his gaze was nothing but sincere.

After all her experiences, Sandy was actually a little moved.
