Tavon was dead set against the whole mess, but things had gotten so out of hand that all they could do now was grit their teeth and let people talk.

Sean listened, but instead of being mad at Sandy for what she’d done, he just felt sorry for her.

He said, worry written all over his face, “So my sister’s just going to have to swallow all this? She’s really going to suffer, isn’t she?”

Tavon shot him a look.

“Still worried about whether Sandy’s suffering or not?”

He snapped, frustrated, “Like it or not, she’s got to deal with it. She made her bed—chose to be the other woman. She brought this on herself.”

Saying this, Tavon stormed off to his room, too angry to keep talking.

Sean stood there, heart heavy. No matter how outrageous Sandy’s choices, she was still his little sister. He couldn’t help but worry.

Scott had only promised to “make things official” with Sandy. Who knew if he meant it, or if it was just because of the baby? What if he changed his mind? The Stranz family was no walk in the park, either.

Sean made up his mind then and there: he’d stay in Riverdale and look out for Sandy.

The next morning, Tavon was up and out early, heading over to Southridge Estates to visit his grandkids.

Salma was there too. Anastasia hadn’t mentioned to Salma that Tavon would be stopping by.

When the doorbell rang, Salma opened the door—surprised to see Tavon standing outside.

“What brings you here? And so early?” she asked, a little taken aback.

Tavon must have caught the earliest flight from Willowbrook to make it at this hour.

But he hadn’t come empty-handed: he brought gifts for the kids, and even one for Salma.

“I came to see Emmie, Nancy, and Pattie. And of course, to see you,” Tavon said with a grin. “You’ve filled out a bit—you look great.”

Now that Salma didn’t have to worry about money, she’d come over to Southridge Estates whenever she missed her grandkids. Most days, she lived at home with Cynthia. Herman had hired an extra housekeeper to help out, so whenever Salma was busy, Cynthia was taken care of.

No stress, no worries—Salma’s mood and complexion had improved a lot.

She stepped aside to let Tavon in. “Have you had breakfast? I can make you some noodles.”
