"Honey you look rough, why don't you go home get some rest, you haven't given yourself enough time to adjust or process what happened to you, we've got things covered here." Sara squeezed Sam's arm and gave it a gentle rub.
"I don't want to lose my job Sara." Sam objected, fear rolling through her. Losing her job was the last thing she wanted to do, especially now.
Sara smiled at her shaking her head, "Do you think I'd be foolish enough to let someone with your talent slip through my fingers, you've drawn in so much business since I made you assitant lead designer, I can't wait to see what happens when I make you lead designer, you have a bright future here Sam, you've just been dealt an ugly hand right now and I understand, you've got the time Samantha now take it before you totally fall apart on us."
"Well my brother is getting married, his soon to be wife asked me to be her maid of honor, maybe I'll take a few weeks, a couple to myself and a week dedicated to helping her."
Sara shook her head a little, "Just don't over do it sweetie," she pulled Sam into a hug. "I just want you to take care of yourself."
"I will Sara thank you, I'm sorry." Sam made her way out of the building closing her eyes, she'd have to make a doctor appointment soon so that would be on the list of this week and she could work more on some designs.
Then when it was time she could head to Boulder to help Jaimie. Her stomach gave a twist of fear, could she face Blake after being so horrible to him? He'd never understand and couldn't blame him.
The first week went by decently. Sam finally got to an actual OB-GYN. They discovered from the ultra sound that she was indeed almost three months pregnant. Eleven weeks and four days. The doctor got her on some prenatal vitamins and Reglan, to help with the constant nausea she was feeling.
She was sitting on her couch in the apartment. She was leaning back against the arm of the couch with her knees pulled up a little with her sketch pad on them. She was doing some mindless doodling when her phone began to ring.
She leaned over to pick it up from the coffee table. Jaimie's name and picture was taking up the phone screen. She swiped to answer it, "Hey Jaimie."
"Sammy I need you." She sounded completely distraught.
"What's the matter?" Sam sat up more, swinging her legs so her sock covered feet touched the cool floor.
"I'm totally stressing, everything I want just doesn't seem to fit together at all."
"Jaimie just calm down, it's your day whatever you want is fine."
"It just doesn't fit right, I need you here, please?"
"Okay, okay calm down, I can come there either today or tomorrow, tell me what you want me to do and I'll do it Jaimie."
"Can you come today, please?"
