Two months I have shared my life with Alpha Kace, giving our future and the Midnight Pack a chance. I like the people here – I truly do and leaving them is going to be hard, but I know that I can't stay here.
Not after today, not after... this.
I may be naïve in the ways of intimacy and love, but I know what I felt, and I know what it meant – Alpha Kace was with someone else, he cheated on our relationship. He betrayed our mate bond and laid with another all the while trying to convince me of a future together. That is no longer possible. I will not be with a man - mate or not, who is disloyal the first opportunity he gets.
He probably figured we wouldn't feel it – being unmarked and the long distance. He bet wrong - start packing, Nova states angrily. She is completely fed up and done with Alpha Kace and to an extent, his wolf Phoenix. We both know Phoenix is an unfortunate passenger in many of the things Alpha Kace does and he will suffer because of this, but we have suffered more than enough. We were betrayed, we suffered, we forgave, we were betrayed yet again and now we're going to leave once and for all – there will be no convincing me otherwise.
I pack the few things I own and call a cab for when I expect Alpha Kace and rest of them to be back. When the cab arrives, I tell him there is an extra tip in it for him if he's willing to wait patiently on someone, I need to say goodbye to. He assures me he is fine with it and I'm reassured by having a human witness on site.
We don't wait long, and I can scent them in the trees quickly approaching. I know they'll scent the human and shift before they reach us, to ensure he doesn't see anything he shouldn't which is going to make what needs to come next all the easier. The dressed group start to approach, unsure if there is a threat or not but when they see it is me with a taxi, Alpha Kace sends everyone but AJ on their way. AJ watches from a distance, a sad look on his face but he doesn't look surprised. I'm guessing he is fully aware of the misadventures his best friend got into last night and he is now about to face the consequences.
