Oskar was visibly simmering with rage. He had orchestrated this entire party as a stage for his plan to confess his feelings for Grace in front of everyone. His goal was to play the lead role of the day, with Finn's help to humiliate me.
But my unexpected response derailed everything.
Recognizing that his plot was spiraling into a farce, Oskar assumed the role of the peacemaker, hoping to impress Grace.
I couldn't have cared less about Oskar. I shot back, "Apologize to Finn? For what? He doesn't deserve that!"
"You!" Oskar glared daggers at me.
"What? Who do you think you are to say that?" I retorted, lifting my chin defiantly.
Oskar's eyes widened, caught off guard by my bluntness.
"David's right. Oskar, to be honest, you're out of line. You're not in a position to say those things. Just drop the act," Hanna chimed in.
"Shut the hell up!" Oskar shouted, discarding his facade, his face flushed with anger. "Damn it! Who else has something to say?"
A voice unexpectedly rang out, "Me."
Stunned, Oskar stared at Grace. "Grace, what do you mean..."
Grace coldly raised her hand to silence him. "Oskar, call me Miss Dixon. We aren't that close. I came to this party for old times' sake, but I realize those beautiful days are gone, and we've all changed a lot. Honestly, this party feels meaningless and unnecessary."
In Oskar's mind, he probably thought I'd saved up some cash over the past couple of years but had just blown it all tonight. He was trying to use this tactic to force me into submission.
What Oskar didn't know was that money was the least of my worries.
"Alright." I waved over to the waiter to settle the bill. Thanks to the tenfold return on my spending, I received another million dollars in my account.
I smirked, silently thanking Oskar.
As soon as I closed the door behind me, I heard the sound of things crashing to the floor inside.
