"Is this depression causing you not to eat regularly?"
"Sometimes," Paige's cheeks grew red. "I don't do it on purpose, sometimes I just don't have an appetite or something causes me to lose it." She felt her two friends rub her back gently.
Doctor Garcia continued to write her notes, "Well, I honestly don't think you're so depressed you need meds, I'd like to meet a couple of times a month just to work things out, help you with the grief a little bit and the feelings you're feeling about him." The doctor handed her a card. "If things get to be really bad or anything give me a call, I'll fit you in if it's before our regular appointments."
Paige's hand shook as she took the card. She wouldn't use it, it was obvious this doctor didn't believe her. Spencer was out there, she could feel it, "Thank you." Paige stood, she couldn't get away from the office fast enough. She went to her car throwing the door open quickly and went to shut it but a hand caught the door. "Gabe just don't."
"Paige, I'm sorry, this wasn't what this was about I swear, we wanted you to be more, I don't know but this was not the intentions of this visit."
"I know Gabe, wasn't your fault, I'll just handle it, it's only been five years, I don't want anyone else, I don't care I have Aurora and if it makes your parents happy you don't have to be around so much, it's okay I'll figure things out with getting someone on the weekends and the two days during the week when she doesn't have daycare, thank you for everything you have done and all your help but it's not your responsibility."
Gabe dropped his hand from the door in complete shock, allowing Paige to shut the door and leave.
"Gabe?" Faye laid her hand on his arm.
"Jesus, this is so stupid, I wish they'd find him, or his remains, something to give the closer everyone needs." He closed his eyes, how was he going to back off just like that? Four years of having Aurora with him just ending out of the blue would kill him. "I'm at a loss Faye, she said not to come around so much that she'd figure things out."
"Oh Gabe, don't worry she didn't mean it you know that," she rubbed his arm. "Come on let's go get something to eat." She pulled him towards his truck.
He went willingly and they went to the diner. This was a terrible idea and a huge mistake. Why didn't he just leave it alone? Because he didn't want his parents to try to take Aurora away from Paige. He didn't want them to know just how upset Paige was.
"Mr. Cummings do you know where you are?" the male doctor asked.
"Base, Iraq I think," Spencer answered. "I need to get to Paige."
"Who is Paige?" the man in uniform asked.
Spencer ran his fingers through his very long brown hair, "My girlfriend, we had a baby, I have to get to her, they need me."
"Mr. Cummings do you know how long you have been MIA?" the intense brown eyes gazed at Spencer trying to read his body language.
Spencer thought for a moment but had no clue, he shook his head, "No I don't know how long, I just know I need to get home to Paige." He sighed hanging his head in his hands.
"Sir, you've been missing for five years." The doctor told him easily and slowly, sympathy in his voice. "A lot has changed, what if this Paige has moved on?"
