Layla POV:

I was quiet that night at dinner. I knew my family was worried about me. They didn't know how to help because they had never been through this.

I felt mom gently grab my hand, making me look up at her. "Soon, he will realize he made a mistake, honey." She tried reassuring me. "I don't think so, mom. He's been nothing but a dick to me." I told her, shaking my head.

"He's a fucking asshole that doesn't deserve you." Sandy said, suddenly. "Sandy Cross! Watch your mouth." My aunt Ellie scolded her. "It's true, mom! He hurt her and I hate him for it." She said, raising her voice. "Don't raise your voice to your mother, Sandra." Uncle Sam then cut in.

Sandy sighed and turned to me. "He's not worth your tears, cuz. If he doesn't know what he's missing out on then he deserves to die alone." She said, surprising me. Since when did she get so angry?

"So, you and Adrien seem to be getting along. He's a nice guy." Lucas said, breaking the awkward silence. "Adrien?" My dad asked. "Yeah, he moved here a couple of weeks ago. He's cool." I told him.

"Boyfriend?" Mom asked. I smiled at her. "No, momma. He's just a good friend of mine." I replied.

"He better be." Dad grumbled before taking a bite.

Things seemed to be getting worse at school. People started to whisper and gossip about me.

"Did you see how mad Sin was when he saw Layla with that guy?" Someone me asked. "What's so special about her anyway?"

"What are you doing after school?" Adrien asked me as we walked out of class. "Nothing, why do you ask?" I asked him. "Would you like to hang out with me?" He asked me. I smiled at him and nodded. "Sure. What do you want to do?" I asked. "I've been dying for some really unhealthy fast food." He said and laughed. I soon joined in. "That sounds great. I'm in." I replied.

I actually had a great time hanging out with Adrien. We talked about stupid, little things from our childhoods to where he used to live.

"So.." He said, leaning his elbows on the table. "Wanna tell me about this asshole mate of yours?" He asked. "Well, you pretty much summed it up, buddy." I said and laughed. "It's Sin Fisher, right?" He asked me, making my eyes widen. "Oh, please. Don't look so surprised. The way he stares at you when I'm around, the way you look at him in general? It's obvious sweet cheeks." He told me. I looked down in embarrassment. "Yeah." I told him.

Noticing I didn't want to talk about Sin anymore, Adrien changed the subject to football, which is something we both actually love. Adrien was a really good guy and was surprisingly good at keeping my mind away from my problems. I can tell, though, that it wouldn't stay this way forever.
