"Say it. I need to hear it."

Again, she replied with a nod accompanied with a smile. "I know."

"Good. And don't ever forget that." He kissed her forehead. Then he released his hold on her, stood up and extended a hand to help her stand. "Now, let's go back to your father."

Angela stumbled back as she stood and tried to subtly remove her hand from Steven's hold but he kept it clutched. "I..."

Steven caught her hesitation. "Your father is sick, Angela. You might not have that many chances to mend things with him. Don't do my mistake and push away a person you love. You'll only realize you're wrong when it's too late." Steven spoke the words with much more meaning than intended. "Besides, your father is the man who brought us together after all. And if it wasn't for him and his persuasive orders, you wouldn't be back here with me again. The least he deserve is to have you beside him before a big surgery."

Angela nodded once, agreeing with him and it was her who made the first step forward.

With hands locked in each other's, they passed through the same corridors for the third time that day. The hospital staff eyed them as they walked in. Probably because they had seen them sprinting past them a few minutes ago. Though like before, Angela and Steven didn't even notice them. At that moment, all they cared about was how good their hands felt in each other's.

Upon arriving at Jack's room, they stopped. Steven turned to Angela, with his brows raised in questioning her if she was ready to go in. She took a deep breath before she pushed open the door.

Jack lifted up his head to surveil the opening door. His eyes immediately fixated at his daughter.

Without breaking her stride, Angela continued to walk towards her father's bed till she was only a foot away. Unlike how she had thought she'd be, she was composed, repressing all her mixed up emotions back. But then, she couldn't hold back any longer. She released herself from Steven and got onto the bed beside her father, her head on his chest, her arm wrapped around his torso in a hug.

"Oh, Angela." Jack's eyes shut, fully grasping that peaceful, tender moment with his daughter.
