So many possibilities went through mind as I journeyed towards the address given by Victoria. It was going to be a long flight.

The fact that I didn't know what this meeting was all about isn't doing great to my nerves that has been on edge these past few weeks.

What does she want? Why now all a sudden? Does she want our daughter? Oh God! How do I tell her Angel is pregnant with my child? I don't need to tell her that but if she plans on being in her life and Angel want her to, she'll find out eventually. She has no right to make such request. I won't p even entertain it.

All I want is answers. Why did she do what she did all those years? If it was this easy for her to locate our whereabout, why wait till now? All this thought run through my mind till I got to the destination.

It looked all like a Victorian home or judging by the expanse of the courtyard, a Villa. It had that country house feel, huge out front space with a beautiful layout, properly manicured flowers and lawn. A brick pathway leading up to the front porch.

As soon as I got to the door , I was greeted by a buff man with gray hair who I assume is the chief butler.

"Good day sir, you must be Mr Westfield. Our madam has been expecting you." He said with a slight bow as he ushered me in.

Inside was huge. Beautifully designed and well furnished. You could tell the owner was particular about details and she knew what she wanted when she asked this house to be built. Huge crystal shaderliers with intricate design hung on high ceilings. Grand stairway that gives that dramatic feel at the very center in the room. Stained glass windows that makes the space feel cosy and gives room for natural light.

"This way " The butler said. leading me further into the lovely home.

There were so many doors in this halkway. How many people live here exactly? I asked myself as we went along. Soon we came to a stop at a particular door, which I assume Mary was behind. The door was different from all the others I've seen on the way. For one it had more breath, it was the only one painted in a rich dark brown. Had design of vines engraved to it. Which no other door had.

The butler paused, turned to face me , curtcied and left without saying a single word. Strange...

I knocked before entering and the sight before me left me shocked. It was the silhouette of a woman or more like her ghost lying on a king sized bed.

The bed frame had intricate golden beam design. But looking at the bed again, it looked more like a beautiful cassette than a beautiful bed. Her hair that used to be a lush and glossy honey blonde was now thin and faded. Her once luxius full figure and glowing skin was now that of a ghost. If I poke her skin with my finger, she could disapear into dust...

Age lines lay scartered across her once youthful face and she was only a year

older than I am. Her once bright blue eyes are now dim, sunken, filled with pain and tiredness.

"Mary...is that really you,? I found myself asking in a voice below a whisper with disbelief refusing to accept the truth in front of my very eyes.

Taking a closer look at the figure laying weakly on the bed I notice she was on drip. What the hell happened?

"Jack?..." The person called out in a small voice that was almost inaudible.

"Yes Mary it's me Jack. What's wrong? How did you end up like this?" I asked confused and worried. All the anger and confrontation I had planned vanished.

She let out a soft chuckle before responding.

"I look like hell, I know. But don't you think you should at least say something nice to me after how many years now? Twenty something years? She asked with a weak smile that I'm guessing is taking all of her strength to create.

"Twenty two years Mary, our daughter is twenty two...? I said absentmindedly.

"Oh about that...I called you here for a reason Jack. She began to say not bothering to stall.

"As you can see, I don't have much time left...I need to retify my wrongs and beg for your forgiveness. She said with a pained look in her sunken eyes.

"What are you talking about ? You're going no where" I argued.

"Come on Jack, I'm not going to fool myself. I'm in the best position to know my health condition" to told me.

"Mary nothing will happen to you okay? You just need enough rest." I comforted

"I have luekemia Jack"...

"I was diagnosed with it right after giving birth to Angel. It was really a difficult time. I was so confused. At first I wasn't ready to be a mother, but after looking at the buddle og joy in my arm who was a spitting image of me I fell in love."

'It was a very difficult and painful birth. I couldn't wake up for days.

When I eventually did I was given the news that I had limited time to live.

I couldn't see myself rasing a child when it was clear that soon enough I won't be able to take care of myself more less a baby.

I thought about leaving her in my mums care, but my mum is a crack head. My baby will probably be better off at an opharnage than with her. But I just couldn't leave her at the orphanage. What if they mistreat her?

My best option was to leave her with you. Your mother seemed nice and responsible enough."

"And you never for once thought about how that will make or mar me? Or the probability that my mum could have kicked me out? Or dropped the baby at the orphanage? You didn't take to consideration that my mum was a single parent struggling to give her child a good education and put food on the table.

That I was not ready to be a father just as much as you were not ready to be a mother." I asked. Needing to know
