"Yes, I need Dr Carter to check my girlfriend and our twins. She was attacked, she's twenty five weeks pregnant and I need to make sure they're all okay, we never had time to make an appointment so could we please see Dr Carter if she's free?" I ask.
"Let me just check if she's free." She looks through the computer and scans the screen. "She is, I'll get her for you." She makes a phone call and Dr Carter comes out to us.
"In here, guys," Dr Carter calls, holding the door out for us. We walk inside and sit down. "How about you explain to me what happened, honey?" Amber nods and tells her everything that happened. "I've always disliked that Alec, my pack hate him too. Well, dear, I'm sure you're just fine, you're probably still in shock and you have every right to be. Being attacked especially when pregnant is a very traumatic thing to go through and you have all our support. As for the babies, I just want to check on them and I know you both do too. How about you take that bed over there and we'll do an ultrasound." Amber gets up and lies down on the bed. She pulls up her shirt and her pants down a tiny smidge so the doctor can get at her full belly. Devon enters frantically and sighs with relief when he sees Amber.
"I'm sorry to interrupt, Doctor, I just had to see my sister," Devon explains. Amber smiles at him, he takes her hand and squeezes it supportively. "I'm so sorry, honey." He strokes her hand repeatedly as he stares at the blank screen.
"It's not a problem, Devon," Dr Carter assures. "Let's start." She puts the gel on her belly and uses the transducer to move it around her belly. She looks back at the screen showing our beautiful babies and then clicks a few buttons. Our babies' heartbeats fill the room and we all smile with happiness. Thank God for that. "That's their heartbeats; they're both perfectly fine and healthy. Do you still not want to know their sex because I can tell you right now?" Since Amber and I changed our minds about knowing we definitely want to know.
"I'd love to if you do too," Amber says.
"I would definitely love to," I agree. Dr Carter points to the baby on the left.
"This baby is a boy," she announces and we all gasp. My girlfriend's carrying the future Alpha; I can't wait until he turns Alpha. She points to the other baby and says, "And this is your baby girl. I'm 99.9% sure about that. Congratulations, guys, I'm very happy for you."
"Thank you," Amber squeals. I pull Amber to my chest and kiss her all over. "O-ow, Damian."
"I'm so sorry, I forgot you're hurt," I say quickly, pulling back.
"And I can finally talk to them properly know that I know they're a boy and a girl," I beam.
"Thanks for being here, Devon," Amber says.
"Of course I'm here, I needed to know if you were alright, I heard the pack telepathic message and went straight to the nearest hospital in wolf form. I was so worried about you and the twins, I thought you were close to death or you were going to have a miscarriage. Thank God you weren't as bad as I imagined you were. Alec is never going to hurt you again, neither is any of his pack. I'm so sorry for not helping you, I should of been here," Devon says, crying through his words.
"You're here for me now and that's all that counts. I love you, Devon."
"I love you too, Amber. Now let's take you home to Mum and Dad who are worrying their asses off and you can rest." I get the tissue off the counter and wipe the gel off her belly. I place two soft kisses on her big bump so they know I love them dearly. I pull her shirt down and help her up. She struggles for a moment and coughs for a few seconds. I could see from her expression that her neck was starting to hurt again from where he choked her. "I knew him leaving us alone was too good to be true, look what he's done to my sister. He's fucking psychotic and I hate him." Devon gives the babies some rubs after he pulls back from kissing and hugging Amber. He's such an amazing and caring brother, he always confides in me about being so worried about her. They have such a wonderful friendship and they love each other as much as any brother and sister could. We arrive home twenty minutes later and everyone clusters around Amber. If I was her I'd feel very claustrophobic.
