"Are you ready to go home?" Devon asks, holding my back and snapping me from my thoughts.
"Yeah," I say softly, a little sadly.
"What's wrong?" Devon worries, studying me with concern.
"I just wish Damian was here."
"He'll be here tonight." Did Damian tell Devon where he went and not me? I thought he'd more than likely tell me first. "Come on, sis, let's get you home." Devon drives me and some others home and I go straight up to bed for my regular nap that I have about an hour after this time. I've been having naps for the past three weeks because I'm getting more fatigue recently. I think Devon and the others knew something was bothering me because I usually watch TV and chat with everyone for an hour before I go up for my nap with Damian. Hannah and Ellen knock on my door as I'm fluffing up one of my pillows.
"Everything okay, honey?" Ellen frets, sitting on the bed beside me.
"Yeah, I just miss Damian," I half-lie. Well, it wasn't a lie because I miss him but that's not the full reason I'm upset. I want to know what the giggling was. "Where's Rachel?" I don't remember seeing her when we got home or in any of the cars. She usually drives home with me.
"She's gone out, she'll be home tonight," Hannah says and then smiles. Now that I think of it...the person giggling sounds just like Rachel. As paranoid as that sounds I think I'm right. They're both gone at the same time, coming back the same time, no one had told me where either of them is and the giggle sounds like Rachel's. But why wouldn't the others or they tell me where they are? It doesn't add all up or make any sense.
"Okay, thanks for checking on me, guys," I say, smiling lightly.
"Anything for you, honey," Ellen says, hugging me and rubbing her niece and nephew. "I can't believe they're going to be here in less than six weeks. I'm going to be an aunt soon!"
"I know, me too! Have you decided on the names yet?" Hannah inquiries.
"No, I have a few names in mind though, I'm not sure about Damian," I admit.
"I bet they're beautiful. Do you want anything?" Ellen asks and I shake my head.
"Maybe."
"Good, because I missed you too. Come here, darling." He kisses me spontaneously and I can't stop myself from smiling at his gesture.
"You need to have dinner, you must be starving." Damian helps me out of the bed and I put on some sweats. As Damian has a shower I notice for the first time since being in this house that there was a key in a door that was always locked. I heard from Damian that you weren't allowed in that room and I've always been intrigued to find out what was in it. Only Damian has the key and it looks like he forgot to take the key as he was leaving. I've asked him multiple times what was inside but he refused to budge. Hannah told me he's had this door locked for about five years. Now that I have a chance to discover his secret room, I'm not going to let this rare moment go to waste.
I unlock the room with the key, open the room, turn on the light and gasp with utter shock at the scenes laying before me. I have never seen so many drawings, paintings and sketches in my life. All of them were of me. Every single one of them. Damian has drawn them all. Hundreds of them. I enter the room to look at them in more detail but I hear a sound as if someone was running. Damian rushes in behind me, a towel wrapped around his waist, his hair and body wet. I bite my lip sheepishly and he looks embarrassed.
"Sorry," I whisper, looking down to the ground with shame.
"I knew I smelt you in here," he sighs, then, closes the door.
