"Oi, stop it!" I exclaimed while throwing a blue M&M at Michael's face while trying to contain my laughter.
"Well, it's true." Michael stated and threw an M&M back at me, hitting me on my left cheek.
"That's rude," I stated to him trying to keep my face straight and crossing my arms over my chest.
"You started it." he shrugged his shoulders and gave me a playful wink. My stomach did an involuntary flip, making those butterflies people talk about feel like dragons crashing into every wall of my belly.
"Me?" I gasped while faking innocence. "Throw an M&M at you? I'm shocked Michael, absolutely shocked you think I would do something like that."
"I'm sorry," he apologised sarcastically. "How wrong of me to think that you of all people would do something like that. What can I ever do to make it up to yo-"
Michael was cut shot as we were suddenly plunged into darkness. A surprised yelp escaped my lips while a chuckle left Michael's lips. Just then the lantern that was providing us light decided to use all of the battery charge and die, sending our surroundings into darkness.
"Is it really this dark? I can't see anything," I mumbled to myself. A small laugh sounded from my right where Michael was sitting and I could only picture the small breath taking smile that would be playing on his lips.
"What are you laughing at? It's so dark." I exclaimed.
"Not for me it's not." He said smugly.
"What? As well as supersonic hearing you can see in the dark as well?" I sarcastically asked.
"Yep," he said popping the "p"."
"Prove it. How many fingers am I holding up?" I challenged, raising my fist into the air but no putting up any fingers.
"None. Your fist is in the air." He answered. I quickly stuck three fingers up in the air and went to tell him his wrong but he continued speaking. "Just then you stuck up three fingers because you didn't want to be proved wrong. I scowled at him before changing the amount of fingers I was holding up.
"Oh look at that, now you're giving me the finger." His voice stated dryly while I smirked.
"I've had a really nice time Alana." Michael said while looking out at the ocean with a small smile playing on his lips. The half-moon was shining brightly in the sky, sending moon light down on the beach providing the only light for us because of the lantern dying a long time ago.
It was now the early hours of the morning, about two or three in the morning and we were still talking non-stop about random stuff that would probably make people want to send us to a mental institution. The whole might had been enjoyable, I will admit that. But the events of Michael losing his temper was always at the back of my mind.
I don't know what happened, but since we hugged something snapped inside of me sending me into a flurry of emotions. Apart of me told myself not to worry around Michael, to let loose and like him because he would always protect me. But when he almost lost control and got extremely angry, the logical side of me told myself to be cautious around him.
And I went with the second thought.
"Get off me," he grumbled trying to move his hands that were stuck down at his sides from my death-like grip.
"Nope," I chuckled happily. "Not until you hug me back."
Slowly, the bottom half of his arms that weren't stuck at his sides raised and awkwardly hugged me back. Releasing him from my grip, I stood back and grinned at him. His scowl was enough to set me into a fit of laughter.
"I see travelling still makes you pissed off." I chuckled.
My older brother Blake had finally arrived home to the shared house we live in together after being away on his work for two weeks. For the next week he was home and living with me until he gets flown off to another part of Australia for three weeks.
"I'm sorry Lani, it's nice to see you." He genuinely smiled at me and ruffled my hair as he walked past me and into the house. I was too happy to scoff at him so I flattened down my hair and scurried after him into the house like a trained dog following her owner.
"Hey man, how was your flight?" Tanner greeted Blake as soon as Blake stepped into the house. They both embraced one another in a hug, before slapping one another on the back like guys do to not make the hug so feminine.
I call this, the man hug.
"Fucking horrible. I was sat next to some old lady who kept trying to talk to me the whole three hours. Apparently I need a haircut." He spat, mocking what I assumed to be the old ladies voice.
