The light was a piece of glass reflecting in the sun and I moved to the object to further examine it. Before I could touch it, I was thrown into the back of a lion-wolf before I could make a sound. I went to scream but a hand clamp over my mouth threatened my death.
"And don't even think about using your powers. If you kill us, then your soldier friend dies."
Troy.
"Where is he? What did you do to him?"
"Nothing yet. He's on his way back from spying on our men. Whether or not he makes it back is up to you."
"Okay," I said, defeated.
They arrived at a site shortly after so I guess it wasn't too far from where Alaric was.
Then again, those lion-wolves are pretty fast.
The man threw me off the animal and I fell to the ground with a thud, my body rocked with pain.
"Careful with the map," a man said. "You'll destroy it."
"Yes. Sorry, Captain."
"Pick her up."
I was pulled swiftly from the ground and the man held both my arms at my sides.
"Let me go!" I thrashed, as the man called Captain approached me.
"No can do princess. We can't kill you but we need you out of the way."
"What's that for?" I froze when I noticed his fingers playing with something familiar. It looked like the Lytral Troy injected me with, but this one contained a yellow liquid.
"Nothing special really. The chemicals in the plant are known to slow down the central nervous system rendering you temporarily paralyzed before becoming unconscious. It's quite helpful with kidnappings, but the side effects make it a tad difficult to retrieve information after."
"Like what?"
"Disorientation, hallucinations, draining of powers, death even."
"Get that thing away from me!"
Captain shrugged. "I would, but we kind of have a goal here and you're in the way."
I head-butted the man holding onto me and made a break for it. I didn't take too many steps when I felt my hair being ripped from my scalp. My face twisted in agony as he pulled me back to him like a stubborn cattle.
"Not so fast princess," Captain smiled. "Keep her still Felix," he looked to the man restraining me. Felix twisted my arm behind my back and I locked my jaws as not to make a sound.
My eyes shot open and darted around my surrounding, my heart sinking when all I saw was trees. Suddenly it occurred to me that I can hear the trees rustling in the wind and the smell the earth below me. I could feel again, but I couldn't move.
"So the princess decides to join us? And just in time too. We need you to tell us where it is."
I glared at him.
"Look," Captain shrugged. "if I have to use force, I will. It's all up to you."
I rolled my eyes.
I heard his footsteps approaching me as I kept my head turned to the side. He knelt down in front of me, chuckling, and I was sure then he had lost his mind.
His hand tightly wrapped around my neck and forced me to look at him. His eyes seemed familiar, much like Jason's, much like that shaper's.
"Where is the secret room?"
What room? What is he talking about?
"I know you know where it is! You're the only one that knows!"
His hand tightened around my neck when I didn't answer, and I wish I knew what he was talking about.
