Arrows came flying from all directions and Charlie was on top of me in less than a second, shielding me with his body.

"Charlie!"

"I'll heal!" he winced. "You won't!"

I swallowed the lump in my throat. "Not if you die first,"

"I won't."

"You don't know-"

"When I say run, you run, okay? Your the only who knows what we're looking for so you can't die."

"What about you?"

"I promised Angela I'd come back. I'm not dying today."

"I swear if five minutes past and I don't see you, I coming back down."

"Don't."

"Charlie."

He sighed. "Fine. Five minutes."

"They stopped shooting? Why?"

"Don't question it. This your chance. Maybe they think we're dead. On the count of three, get ready to run and I want you to book it up those stairs. No matter what, don't look back."

"Okay,"

"Find the room and break the spell without me if you have to."

"We're doing this together, Charlie. I'll wait for you."

He chuckled. "Okay. Now ready? One...two...three...run!"

I rolled out from under him and the bones in my legs cracked as made for the stairs. My body ached with each step I took causing me to trip halfway up. When I made it to the top of the staircase, I heard jarring roar sound through the room. I was paralyzed, but only for a moment as Charlie yelled at me to keep going.

I couldn't think as I ran about the hall. The urge to turn back and help my brother build led in my legs and some force in me was telling me it was wrong to leave him. Yet, I couldn't dismiss the fact that I may be more of a liability than help. Imagine me going down there, also conscious of the fact that my powers have been drained, to only get us both killed, and subsequently after our death, the others would surely follow.

My feet padded against the marble floor stronger now. I don't want Charlie to die, but he will if I go back to him.
