He’d never faced anything like this before. Coming from a small fishing village, the boy he once was would have found all this hard to stomach. But the shock didn’t last long.

Leaning against the wall outside the restroom, he pulled out his phone and sent his brother a message in secret.

He needed some comfort, at least the kind only Tyrone could give.

“Bro, they’re all ganging up on me, saying they want to find something on me so I’ll have to listen to them forever. They’re even talking about getting me hooked on some bad habits.”

He added a sad-face emoji for good measure.

Tyrone was trying to get Alicia Shelton to sleep, but his phone kept buzzing every few minutes.

“Are you texting someone else’s dog now?” Alicia lifted her head to eye him suspiciously.

With a sigh, Tyrone picked up the phone and glanced at the screen. It was Easton.

As someone with zero experience taking care of kids, Tyrone really didn’t want to deal with Easton right now.

If he’d already overheard their whole plan, that meant those idiots, even combined, were no match for Easton. And yet here Easton was, playing the victim and looking for comfort.

“Delete WhatsApp,” Tyrone muttered.

That was all he ever asked of Easton—don’t text, don’t chat, just leave him in peace.

But Easton couldn’t help himself. Whenever he was bored, he’d pester Tyrone.

Tyrone didn’t understand it, nor did he bother to pretend he respected it.
