Chapter 43

Ziana’s POV

Z! Z!I am greeted, while seeing big orange eyes appear on the screen of my phone, making me snort a laugh.

Jax! Hi buddy. Is mama around?I ask and he laughs as he nods then looks up.

Jaxon, give mommy her phone please.I hear my mother’s voice a little further away. He laughs and begins to run in the opposite direction, holding the phone so all I see are his little legs stumbling around the floor. Ah. I got the little thief. Your punishment is tickles!Warrick roars as he picks up Jax and begins to tickle him. The phone is thrown to the ground as the laughing continues.

Sorry honey. He has taken to stealing my phone.I hear as my mom’s face comes to view. She is smiling at the scene in front of her, then turns the phone around so that they all can see me.

Say bye bye, Jaxon. We will hopefully be seeing Ziana soon.Mom says as Jaxon waves to the phone and Warrick smiles at me.

It’s good to see you smiling, Ziana. We miss you, but I know we will see you next weekend. He says and I nod.

You will. Miss you too.I say as my mom switches to call instead of video. She prefers to talk face to face in person, not have to hold the phone up right to see over a small screen.

Oh! Your mother told me what happened. Tell your mates, I will rip their di..” Warrick starts, but is interrupted.

Warick! Ears!Mom scolds and I hear grumbles at her scolding and smother my laugh. After a few moments! hear a door click shut and know that she went into another room.

So. What’s up?She chirps on the other end.

Why does anything have to be up? I just wanted to check in. See how everything is going.I answer, chickening out of the reason I called her for.

Yeah okay. You only call me when something is going on. Is everything ok? Does Warrick need to enact his unfinished threat? She asks and I laugh at the thought of my mates faces if Warrick and my mother showed up here enraged. I think I would pay to see that, maybe get some popcorn for the show.

No. No. Mom. Uh. I just have a. Um question.I stutter and she breathes.

Honey. I can’t exactly give you advice on sleeping with 2 men. You know I have only ever been with my mates. And obviously not at the same time.” She says as I blanch.

Ew mom no. That’s not why I called. Ew no.I say and she laughs.

Then what is your question? She asks and I take a deep breath.

Have. Have you seen anything about me?I ask and she clicks her tongue.

Now. Now. You know I can’t tell you what I have seen. She says and I sigh. Of course NOW she decides to follow the unspoken rules of being a seer.

Chapter 43

Mom. I. I just want to know if you’ve seen me get a wolf..I trail off. She remains quiet. I’ve been hearing wining and purring. And I’ve even growled. TWICE. That shouldn’t be happening. I am cursed. My wolf was taken during the sacrifice.I begin to ramble and panic. I haven’t actually allowed myself to panic because! have been convincing myself that it isn’t possible.

You get your wolf, Ziana. But I can’t tell you how. Just. Keep going in the direction that you are and she will emerge. In time. She answers after a moment. My nerves fray and I feel like I want to throw up.

I don’t have a wolf.” I say.

Not yet, but you will. Just keep going about your days and eventually she will come. She says and I shake my head even though I know she can’t see it.

It’s not possible.I say.

It is in the right circumstances. I don’t think your wolf was taken. I think she was bound, that’s all I can say about it. But Ziana, there is no need to freak out. I know you and can imagine you hiding yourself away to try to force her out. You can’t do that. Just continue living like you have been and she will come. Eventually.Mom explains and I nod numbly.

Okay mom.I answer.

Sh*t honey I have to go. Jax started another fire. I’ll call you later. I love you.She says then hangs up.

Love you too.I whisper as I bring my phone down to my side. I have a wolf.

A smile stretches across my face at the thought. I always have felt like a part of me was missing. Like there

was a space in my soul that was empty and now. Now there may be a chance to be whole. I don’t want to get

my hopes up, but mom confirmed it. I just need to continue my path and she will come. I’ll get her. Eventually.

There is a knock on my door and I practically skip to open it. Zane and Killian are there, they both smile.

Figured we would come and see if you want to join us for breakfast.Zane says. I nod and push past them, closing my door as they flank my sides.

What’s got you in such a skippy mood?Killian asks and I look at him, then Zane.

Nothing in particular.” I hum as we enter the elevator. The doors closing remind me of my conversation with

Addie last night and my face falls.

What’s wrong?Zane asks, grabbing my hand.

I need to talk to you both.I say and they look at each other, then Killian hits the number 2 on the side panel.

The doors open and we make our way to his office. They both turn toward me when I sit on the chair. Killian brings another chair over, as Zane positions the chair next to me, to in front of me. They both sit, elbows on their knees as they stare at me. Zane grabs my fidgeting hands.

What’s going on? Your mood switched as soon as we stepped into the elevator.Zane asks.

There is something I need to tell you both.I say as I pull away from Zane’s hands and stand up to begin

pacing.

Franklin promised me to his second, Reginald. Growing up I always knew that when I turned 18, I would be mated to Reginald, whether I wanted to or not. Well, Reginald, escaped during the war and has been waiting for the right time to get me.I say and glance at them. Levels of anger and confusion on both of their faces.
