Ocean's POV
It's strange to think that life gave me another chance, education-wise. With only two more months left, I was actually surprised that work could be pushed and summarized in such a way that I'd be getting it done. I felt like Einstein.
It also helped me to see why my previous company fired me, what I did was unprofessional, despite my feelings. That as my job, and I should've handled it in a better manner.
I see that now, but I regret nothing. I'm moving forward.
Trevor on the other hand, had that part of my mind occupied, and my panties in a twist. His attitude definitely improved, but he never addressed the situation again, and he kept walking around shirtless expecting me to be normal about it!
I did understand where he was coming from, and maybe at that moment, I would've told him that I was ready, when I'm clearly not. That would've caused a lot of problems in our relationship if there was to be one.
But damn, can he just wear some clothes? I'm a woman with needs too, you know.
Today I was taking classes from home since there was a slight water issue at the school, and Trevor was out like usual, but Ms. Marie was also here, my phone propped in her hand as she took selfies on snap chat.
"Ocean? Are you still busy? I'm hungry." She says after a few minutes and I turn to look at her. She had a slight pout, her eyes kinda wide as she looked at me pleadingly.
"Ten more minutes and I promise we'll get you some nuggets." She hums in response before getting back to whatever she was doing. I finish up quickly, jotting down notes before shutting my laptop and carrying her to my room even though she was capable of walking. she helped me pick out clothes to wear, which consisted of some bright pink tights, and a yellow t-shirt, with some ugly fuzzy boots that I had gotten last year from a class gift exchange.
"It looks weird Marie," I frown, as she frowns.
"Are you trying to say I can't dress?" Her lips quivered.
"No, not at all it's just that-," She sniffed and I lost it. A bath and some moisturizer later, I was dressed like a clown. At least my hair slayed.
The front door slammed closed and I froze. Trevor was home.
"Oo Brother!" She jumped off the bed happily, while I was completely terrified as a knock came onto my door.
"Marie? Ocean?"
Marie opens the door, an adorable smile on her face.
"Hey princess, Where's Oce- Oh." If I was white, I'd be as red as a tomato. "She sniffed didn't she?"
"She sniffed," I sighed shaking my head at an amused Marie. "We were just about to get nuggets, you wanna come with?"
"Sure, let me just freshen up, and... you wanna change?"
I nod, trying my best not to offend Marie again, but she was too busy playing in her brother's hair. He leaves her with me, and just for memories, I decided to be silly and take a few pictures with Marie, still in my terrible outfit. We did the kissy face, tongue outside, cross-eyed, and we completely abused the full-length mirror.
I changed into some beige shorts and a simple white t-shirt with white flip flops.
"I think my outfit was better, but if you wanna look basic,' She shrugs and my mouth fell open.
"Girl, who you been hanging around?" She giggles and I lift her, turning off my a/c and heading outside. Bumping into Trevor who was just about to knock, he gives me a lopsided grin before tapping my nose twice.
"You're welcome," We stop at a red light, and his eyes lazily find mine, and they stay there. We continue gazing at each other until a loud honk shook us out of our trance, and we got Marie safely home.
The house she was in was beautiful, big, but not mansion big. I didn't go inside, but her maid/caretaker came to get her as Trevor brought her up to the porch. They conversed for a little, and I let my eyes drift around the neighborhood. There were the typical white picket fences, the trimmed lawns, and the neat roads, not a flaw in sight. But I knew better to assume that it seemed like outside, was what it was like on the inside.
Trevor returned not too long after, and we were headed back home.
"How do you feel about a trip?" He asked in the silence and I raise an eyebrow at him.
"A trip?" He nods.
"I have school," I tell him. Why would he take me on a trip? After what he said before?
"I can take care of that, you'll just do some classes online. It's just for a few days."
"Where will we be going?" I ask and he smirks.
"You'll see."
"I haven't even said yes," I roll my eyes. "But I'll think about it."
"Oh, you'll definitely say yes." He says smugly and I snort, shaking my head at him.
