Chapter overview: Chapter 43 from Reborn of the Luna

In this standout chapter of the Internet novel Reborn of the Luna, CutieBinkie introduces new challenges, powerful emotions, and major plot progress that captivate readers from beginning to end.

I understood enough about lycan politics to know that not everyone was happy with their rule. Many of the other werecreatures believed they could do better. They didn’t realize that it was the lycans’ leadership that kept the peace between the various factions. Lycans weren’t just stronger; they were better at controlling their inner beasts and making rational decisions. It’s what set them apart and allowed them to maintain order.

Jacob and his ancestors could have easily forced the others into submission, but they had chosen a different path—one of peace and negotiation. Sometimes, I wondered if he regretted that choice. Peace seemed to bring its own set of problems. Now, rumors were spreading about an uprising. No one knew for sure which packs were involved or when they might attack. It was like waiting for a storm to hit.

“Our warriors will handle it,” Richard said, trying to sound confident. But I could tell there was more he wasn’t saying. “But—”

“This is just the beginning,” Jacob said, his voice filled with frustration. “We don’t even know who’s behind this. And you still think it’s a good time for a White Party?”

“I do,” Richard replied with a smirk. I could see why Jacob trusted him. He had a knack for seeing the bigger picture.

“Explain,” Jacob said, crossing his arms, clearly expecting a good answer.

Richard shrugged. “Let them think we have no idea what they’re planning. They’ll get bold, make a mistake. All we need to do is watch them carefully. Our spies are already in place.”

Jacob seemed to consider this. I could tell he didn’t like it, but he saw the logic. Better to let the enemy think they were safe and expose themselves than to scare them into hiding. He wanted to deal with this quickly and move on to more important things—like me, I hoped.

“Fine,” Jacob said with a grunt. “We’ll have the White Party. Why is it called that, anyway?”

“You’re asking the wrong person,” Richard chuckled. “That’s all Savannah’s doing.”

“Got it,” Jacob nodded, ready to leave. He paused and looked back at Richard. “I have another small task for you—”

Before I could hear what the task was, Savannah burst into the room, pulling me along with her.

“This is where you’ll be staying!” she announced cheerfully, her voice bright. “It’s the Luna’s bedroom!”

“What?” I almost choked on my words. “Is it really okay for me to stay here?”

“Of course!” Savannah waved off my concerns. “I wouldn’t have prepared it for you if it wasn’t! My mom used to live here.”

“Your mom?” I felt the room heat up suddenly. “As in the former queen?”

“Yeah.” Savannah shrugged like it was no big deal. “Do you like it? Should I change anything? We can change everything if you want! This is going to be so fun!”
