"Silas," he hoarsely released grabbing my hand a little tighter.
"Yes?" The tears stained my eyes just looking at how weak the boy who used to run around excited for no reason became.
"Don't let him..." he mumbled. Before I could even ask what he meant he began to finish his sentence. "Don't let Austin take Chance from me..."
"Milo..." The tears were close to falling as he let go of my hand.
"Promise me...you won't let him take Chance from me..." I nodded as the 'I promise' came out as a soft crack. The corner of his lip turned up a bit but disappeared shortly after he fell back into a deep slumber. The tears were already falling. How could I ever think his love for Chance was annoying? He was so in love with the boy that when he woke up, he didn't cry about the excruciating pain, yet he wanted to make sure Chance was okay. I turned around, facing the corner of the room where Austin stood posted up the entire time staring apathetically at the bear fur flooring.
"He...um, you heard him..." I said as he nodded. He removed his back from the tent wall heading outside, "Austin!" The dark look of his blue eyes glared at me causing me to flinch a bit. "What...are you going to do?"
"What do you mean 'what'? Chance is his mate, I can't do anything."
"Austin-" he hurried out of the room as I chased him. He was walking fast, passing up Chance's tent and going over to the forest. I followed him the entire way making sure not to leave him alone. "Austin, we have to tell Chance." I breath when he slowed his pace.
His frowned turn into a fierce anger as he snapped punching the nearest tree to him, "FUCK!!" Gripping the tree on the side, he leaned his forehead onto it, his eyes shut as he tried to calm down.
"I understand how you feel-"
"You don't understand anything."
"Austin." I said hurtfully, we've been best friends since we were little, how could he say that? I had known his feelings already, I've known Milo's...it was just Chance who was the one holding the answer to there hearts. "I understand but, I also understand it's Chance's decision."
"Morning," he said taking a stand in front of me. He sighed, rubbing his head stress-fully, "Not to long ago me and Silas went to see Milo." Austin passed causing my heart to throb both painfully with good news or for bad news. "He woke up, but eventually went back to sleep after saying some words..."
I could tell how uncomfortable he was with the conversation, especially since I thought he hated Milo and he probably did, "What did he say...?"
"Um, something about not letting me take you away from him." I could feel my face transform into a worried and embarrass expression, and due to Austin, I could tell he didn't like that. "I mean-, it's not like I was trying to t-take you away from your mate-"
"He's not my mate..." I informed him once more,"... did he say anything else? You know like him hating me or-"
Austin laughed with confidence, "I don't believe he can ever hate you. He protected you for his own reasons, its not your fault."
