"Fine," he pulled me to my feet grinning, "Since you're on the verge of crying I won't kill you," He turned on his heel walking out of the bare circle ground, "Yet."
"YET!?" I screamed as he laughed, I don't see what was so funny. Many wolves these days had turn into cannibals, eating their own kind, especially the weakest. Shit, If I was him, I would eat me. Austin turned to look at me giving me that confused look he wore so often when I did something stupid like let a fish go free instead of eating it.
"Why would I eat you?"
My eyes widen as realization slapped me on the face, "D-did I say that out loud...?"
"You really think I would bring you out here on training grounds, secluded from the others, just to eat you?"
"Well... No, I just..." I lowered my head, there was no point in fighting for words because he was right. I did think that was the only reason why he would do this everyday. Slowly toughing up your meal, fattening it up at tribe meetings as beating it to make the meat more tender. That's what I thought.
'Ha, that last one killed me!!' my wolf laughed as Austin had already disappeared from in front of me, Had he went back with out me? 'You keep asking me all these questions that I cannot answer!!!'
"Shut up," I pouted feeling guilty and denial. That's not what I thought his motive was at all...
Brutally, my feet scraped against the pealed bark and rocks; the leafs and twigs crunched under them only causing sound to my numbed feet. It didn’t really bother me; the only thing on my mind was finding the way back to the campsite.Austinhad dragged me out here a couple of times but I could never use my sense of smell to follow my trail back.
I pushed myself to my feet darting pass the wolves that launched at me. I dashed towards the tent as the group of wolves behind me increased in numbers greatly. More tribe members tried to fight them off but the number of Xylouris was unbearable. I slipped on the snow causing me to fall and slid as I hit the barrier stones. Or, what I thought were the stones… It was as if someone dropped them from a 50-story building causing them to shatter once meeting contact with the ground.
I looked up at the hungry wolves, their red eyes piercing deeply into me. Their lips flipped under causing the white sharp canine teeth to be visible. The drool slicked down from their teeth trickling down their jaws, I simply gulped at the sight not even threatening to move a muscle. They were all nearly the same shade of brown, they looked skinnier than normal wolves, and their claws inclined with built up dirt from other areas. I had understood the reason for their attacks but it doesn’t mean their actions were the right motives.
I curled into a ball waiting for the teethes to rip away the skin from my body, instead, I was snatched back by a black wolf being dragged over the broken stones.Austingrowled fearfully at the skinny wolves dying of starvation and hatred. They made a step towards us as He jumped in front of me arching towards the ground threateningly, flashing his fangs. I jumped towardsAustin, trying my best to pull him back by his torso. “StopAustin!!” He shook me off not removing his glare from the wolves that started to gang in. The tents rods broke, snapping the weak, pole in half slamming to the ground. The fire roared at us all causing many wolves to cry out as they ran with fire coating their tails.
Austinrefused to stop staring as I tried once more to pull him back. I failed with a back kick to my gut and my ass on the ground. I cried out pulling my hand off the sharp end of the stone staring at the blood that began to trickle down my hand. The warmth of the metallic liquid covered my ice-cold skin. I didn’t know how to act, it was the first time this amount of blood was rushing from my skin, yet, I glanced at Austin, he backed up from the approaching steps. I grabbed the rock that remained in me palm, its gritted cold gray surface nearly covered in my blood. I snatched it out groaning in pain as I stood once more. I didn’t care anymore what Austin thought, He was going to listen to me now!!
