Everything happened so as I was facing his face...? Austin crawled under my legs throwing me over his back and dashed into the forest. The wolves let out a howl running after us in hunger, their red eyes were very noticeable between each tree they passed. Austin kept running, his tail whipping me in the face from time to time. The chase was fierce; no one gave up, not even Austin hip beatings into my ribs. I didn’t know how long we’ve been running but the red seemed to disappear constantly one after another. I had assumed due to their starving food cases, they lost energy. However, that didn’t stopAustin, he continued to lash forward getting us as far away from those cannibal eating wolves he could.
He made a sudden stop before walking in a circle breathing heavily. I sat up looking at the cliff he had stopped at, the water bursting out from the cracks of the rocks and down into a river. The height was not even possible to calculate from where we stood but apparently, Austin was so eager to find out… he pounced off the cliff and into the air. I screamed as my heart slammed at my bones. The terrible feeling I had of heights returned, my back smacked hard against the water. A splash erupted from my side but the water being thrown on top of me rushed out the sound, causing me to sink deeper into what I thought wasn’t a deep river.

The incredulous pumps at my chest caused me to wake from what I thought death had token over. Even though I was awake, I was too weak to move, something was blocking my air that made my throat dry. Fingers clasped over my nose, as my mouth was forced open. The cold lips pressed to mine transferring air to me. I sat up immediately pushing the person back as I painfully choked out the water. My ribs felt like they were caving in with each cough, giving me only a little amount of air supply.
“You’re okay,”Austin sighed in relief as he gently rubbed my back. I was still coughing but no water was coming out, this was for the lack of air and shock! I turned to face Austin, as he was on his knees fully naked. I screamed at the sight of a man’s naked body, throwing myself to the ground. “Sorry,” He apologized as I heard him step into the water, “All of the clothes were drench so I squeezed them out.” Squeezed? All? DRENCHED!? I sat up staring down at my naked body, the upmost embarrassing feeling burst in me as I stifled another scream but my throat wouldn’t let me. I shot a glare at Austin; the water covered his lower half as he faced me, “Is this better for you?”
“N-no…!”
I tried eagerly to cover as much of myself as I could, “Well, you’re going to have to wear my shorts until your sweats dry. Since they were the most absorbent, I couldn’t get all of the water out as I thought.” I wiped my mouth but pulled back at the throbbing hand. A grey piece of rip clothing wrapped around the gash that had stopped bleeding, “I don’t think you’ve bled that much but the trail you left behind was very strong. But for now all I can do is stop the bleeding.”
“Trail...?” I croaked grabbing his over sized shorts. I searched around for my boxers grabbing them as I pulled them on.
“Your blood scent.” he informed sneezing. I turned to face him as he started to crawl out of the water.
“AUSTIN!” I grabbed his hands trying to push him back into the river.
“What’s going to happen now?”
“Hmm,” He faced the river, skipping the rocks out of his hand onto the water, “We’ll probably head to the mountains in search for the Pyloric.” he sighed deeply chunking the last rock, “that’s if they haven’t been targeted first...”
“But, since those wolves were starving mostly, I don’t think that they would have a chance with the cold…” I blurted without thinking as Austin glanced at me, “I think…maybe….”
“You’re right.”
“So, those were the Xylorius, right...?” Even if I asked, I knew it was them. Their brown wolves always following my trail home everyday to ambush me. Austin nodded walking directly in my path, stopping to meet eye to eye.
