“Are you okay without your jacket? It’s still a bit damped so you’ll be cold for awhile.”

“I’m good.”

“Okay, we’ll leave by dawn, the moon should dense our scent a bit.” Before even getting the chance to ask where we were supposed to sleep, he shifted into a wolf, prancing around in a circle. I flopped down leaning my back onto the trunk of the tree, crossing my arms over my chest; this was going to be a long cold night…

-

I glanced over at the big ball of black fur, it was moving up and down showing he was still alive in a deep sleep. I had thought about waking him up since I couldn’t sleep at all but, I rather freeze. A cold shiver ran down my spine as I regretted the words dearly, I didn’t have my jacket and I was freezing so much, it made me to lazy to get up. Bring my knees up to my chest; I exhaled sharply, seeing the condensation slid against the cold air. “Fucking hate winter…” I hissed in a low harsh whisper talking to my wolf. He didn’t answer and I cursed him for getting some sleep while I couldn’t.

The crackling from twigs being snapped and leafs being crunched caused my skeletons to literally jump out of my skin. I stared up at the dark blue eyes that seemed to be light crystals under the moonlight. The black fur vague against the moon as the furry figure walked over to me. My stiffened body relaxed, my heart beats slowing to their constant pace, “You scared the crap out of me…” I sighed still holding my hand close to my chest. Awkward enough he just stood there staring at me for a while before flopping down on the side of me.

I took that as an invitation. I leaned over running my fingers through his fur, before adjusting to lie on my side. His soft silky fur brushing against my bare arms goosebumps erupting from my skin. I scooted closer to him wrapping all of myself under his fur, the warmth making contact with me quickly. The cold faded out only leaving his body heat to warm up my hungry skin. I started to grow greedy wanting more warmth from him as I wrapped my arm around him cuddling my face into his neck. I heard him snort, Austin shook his head for me to remove my face from his neck but I refused, he was just too warm.

-

I woke up to a shiver taking over me. I curled into a ball as two arms pulled me into a warm secluded chest. At first, I just laid their enjoying the warmth of the muscular toned chest until a body pressed up against me. I shot my eyes open, the warm breathing tickling the hairs on the back of my neck. I pulled out of the arms as Austin sat up running his fingers through his hair in questioned. I stared at him before finding the voice to speak, “W-what the hell are you doing!?”

He looked around innocently trying to find an answer before turning to met eye contact again, “Sleeping...?”

“Get in?” I hope he didn’t think I was going to strip fully and bathe naked with a man to my side.

He made an approaching step to the edge of the river, “Don’t make me get out and come get you.”

I shrieked at his cold expression removing my shirt faster than ever. Holy shit, what do I do!? The thought of another male seeing me naked didn’t quite lift my spirits…

I jumped into the water as soon as my clothes hit the floor, but the water blocking my body still didn’t stop the awkward feeling with Austin glaring at me. I shivered at the cold water, cursing him for making me get in so fast instead of letting me get used to the water first. I heard the water slash behind me that made me turn slowly to look at Austin. He was moving closer which scared the shit out of me. I sunk back turning around, trying to move my legs against the rushing water, “Chance, watch your footing, its–” I slipped on a rock falling into the ice-cold water. All my air released at the unexpected fall creating bubbles as a hand pulled me to the surface. “That’s why I said watch your footing, the damn rocks are slippery.”
