The Runt novel Chapter 21

Far too soon Alpha Michael is striding back into my room – the last person I want to see and considering the list, that's saying something. I resist the urge to roll my eyes at him simply out of respect – he is still an Alpha but enjoy that Nova does it on my behalf internally.

The man is a jerk.

"Do you hate my son enough to see him die?" Alpha Michael asks me suddenly, shocking me with the question. He comes to the side of my bed and takes my hand in his, squeezing uncomfortably tight. "I asked you a question. Do you want my son to die?" I scowl at him before answering.

"Of course not, don't be ridiculous," I snap, trying to appear bored with the conversation but am in reality, anything but. My hand is numb from the tightness of his grip but I refuse to let him know how much he's hurting me. Where is he going with this?

I'd say we're here to defeat Alpha Michael-Nova interjects but I pray she isn't right. I'm nowhere near strong enough to challenge him to any sort of duel – as wonderful as Nova is, I have zero doubt he'd destroy us.

What was I sent back here for?!
