Both men step into the circle and face one another. Alpha Michael who was gloating so arrogantly only moments ago isn't so cocky anymore, Penelope's appearance throwing him. He knows what it'll do for Kace, even if he isn't sure what was said between them – he has a good idea. All you have to do is look at the difference in Kace's stance and walk to know he is doing better – and the fact that Phoenix can be scented as well as sensed whereas before not... Alpha Michael has to be shitting bricks.

My best friend is ready to kick some ass.

KACE, RATIONALE

He has planned my downfall from the start, including manipulating Penelope to his selfish and perverted means – I can't even begin to imagine what he has planned for her if I lose.

So, we don't lose.

A loss today will mean an end to everything for me – easy peasy, I won't have any more worries. It'll only be the beginning of everyone else's nightmares however, and that is what I need to keep from happening. The Midnight Pack will be back under his control – his dictatorship, his tyranny – call it whatever you want but he is not a good leader. He is neither kind nor just, and everything he does is for himself or his friends – or whoever can pay him the most money. He is as corrupt as they come only no one knew before, we only knew how harsh he is. I know better now and regardless of what happens – he isn't going to be held accountable for the millions he has stolen. If he dies, he serves no punishment obviously and if I die, I take his secret with me.

But if he dies, I'll be sure everyone knows what he did – who he truly was.

It won't matter to him, but it'll mean everything to me and our pack, for the rest of the world to realize what a monster controlled our world for so many years. The Council is in place to stop Alphas like him, but they were fooled visit after visit, never witnessing anything or only seeing what was put in front of them. Their intentional ignorance condemned the Midnight Pack to decades of near-starvation, whippings and other acts of inhumanity while my old man was Alpha.

Me coming of age was supposed to be a good thing.

Even his wolf is a jerk, I don't like either of them, Nova declares haughtily. The man is a horrible excuse for an Alpha and a father and deserves every bit of what is about to come his way. I have full confidence in Alpha Kace's ability to destroy Alpha Michael and as awful as it sounds, I hope he does it painfully and brutally.

I want Alpha Michael to suffer even a fraction of what he has put so many others through.

Even though he will never be properly punished for everything he has done in this lifetime, I believe the Goddess will hold him accountable in the next. Alpha Michael is about to die, and then he is going to burn.

For eternity.
