Turning the Tide novel Chapter 2

At the entrance of the Harrison Hotel, I stopped and frowned.

This was one of the few upscale restaurants in town, and the prices here were well beyond my usual budget.

On regular weekdays, I passed by, never imagining I'd actually dine here.

Now, even though I was here for a blind date, the knowledge that my spending would be reimbursed tenfold added a bizarre twist. Still, I was not keen on splurging on someone I hardly knew.

As reluctant as I was to go through with it, I knew I couldn't bail on this date without facing my mother's wrath. Plus, I had already made it this far.

Taking a deep breath to steady myself, I stepped into the restaurant. The lavish decor made me squint in surprise.

When I reached the reserved private room, I was taken aback to see my date had arrived early.

The girl looked attractive, though her makeup was a bit overdone.

Feeling fed up, I turned to leave, only to hear her condescendingly call after me.

"What? Upset? Such a temper. You're not going to skip the meal while you're here, are you?"

Her words gave me pause, and I turned around to sit back down at the table.

I said inwardly, "Fine. Let's eat. Let's see what you have planned for me."
