A tall figure appeared at the door.

Fury consumed Ted, and without bothering to ask who the newcomer was, he hissed, "Who the hell are you? This is my office! Get out of here!"

"You'll find out soon enough," the newcomer replied flatly.

Just then, the receptionist rushed in and announced to Ted, "Sir, the new manager has arrived. Oh, she's here..."

The receptionist trailed off, and Ted broke out in a cold sweat. His face, which had been red with anger, now turned pale. He stammered, "You... You are..."

"Yes. I'm Grace Dixon, the new manager appointed by the head office. Ted, your reputation has reached me even before I arrived. Seeing you in person, I realize those rumors are clearly an understatement," Grace remarked, her gaze icy as it locked onto Ted.

While I couldn't read Ted's thoughts, one thing was clear. He was doomed. He collapsed onto the floor, devastated.

Honestly, the moment Grace walked in, my mind went blank. Never in my wildest dreams did I think she would be the new manager.

No wonder Grace shot me a meaningful look when we parted ways last time. As the manager, she must have reviewed a list of the company's employees before taking office, and naturally, she knew I was one of her subordinates.

Back in school, Grace was the queen bee while I was the doormat. Now, in the workplace, I was the subordinate and she was the superior. The gap between us had always felt insurmountable.

"You... Grace... I actually..." Ted stammered, struggling to find the right words.

Her aloofness melted away with that smile.

I shrugged. "Of course I recognize you, but I didn't dare to greet you. I never imagined you'd be the new manager coming in from abroad."

"I feel more at home here." She paused and then added, "Let's save the catching up for later. I have things to deal with."

With that last sentence, her icy demeanor returned.

I realized a major overhaul in the company was underway.
