For average service, a 15% tip was standard, and an 18% tip was considered generous.

Even though I didn't order anything, I willingly handed the waiter three thousand dollars. His shock was understandable. That amount could be more than the waiter's yearly salary. More to the point, he hadn't even served our food yet.

Noticing the dumbfounded look on the waiter's face, I waved my hand dismissively. "I believe your excellent service deserves that much."

Gone was the humiliation brought by my date's arrogant attitude, replaced by pure joy on the waiter's face at the staggering tip.

I glanced at my phone, and sure enough, I received $30,000, ten times the three thousand I just spent.

My date's eyes lit up at the pile of cash I casually displayed. "Wow, David, you're impressive! What do you do?"

The sudden shift in her demeanor brought an ironic smile to my face.

"I just work for a small company."

"I had a meal before coming here. Just enjoy your food."

She gave me a mischievous smile. "Why don't we hit the mall afterward? There's a bag I've been eyeing that's coming in today, so keep me company, okay?"

I smiled but said nothing, contemplating whether she would still be up to go shopping later.
