Turning the Tide novel Chapter 8

The next morning, I headed to the car rental agency and rented a Mercedes Benz.

Relieved that the tenfold cashback hadn't disappeared, I stopped by the mall to pick up a decent outfit before rushing to the Harrison Hotel.

As I entered the lobby, I spotted a group of men and women lounging on the sofas, chatting and laughing. In the center of it all was Oskar.

"Hey, everyone! Look who's here! David the poet!" Oskar announced, and the mocking tone in his voice didn't escape anyone in the group.

He stood up and strode over to me, grabbing my shoulders to ensure I wouldn't bolt.

"Okay, spill the beans! Where do you publish your articles now? Let us read your masterpieces!" As soon as Oskar finished, the room erupted with laughter.

I shook Oskar's hand off my shoulder and replied with a slight smile, "You're too kind. I'm far from a poet. Speaking of the past, I clearly remember your great exploits. I must commend you for handling those five guys."

Oskar's smile instantly faded.
