The next day was the weekend, and John was resting at home. When he woke up, I wasn't in bed. Hearing noises downstairs, he assumed I was making breakfast.

Relieved, he got up and went to the bathroom, where he found an open box of medication in the trash.

It was an anti-inflammatory ointment, and John's first thought was that it might be used for post-cosmetic surgery recovery.

However, he quickly dismissed this idea—after all, we had been living together for so long. Any significant changes would not have gone unnoticed.

After freshening up, John went downstairs and saw breakfast already laid out—his favorite.

There was also a note that read: "I had to step out for a bit. Remember to eat breakfast. Love you!"

John couldn't shake the feeling that something was amiss but couldn't pinpoint what.

At that moment, his phone pinged with a new message.

"Dear Mrs. Smith, congratulations on becoming our valued member at Cosmetic Clinic."

John's heart raced as he recalled the ointment he had found in the trash.

When doubts arise, even the smallest details become suspect.

While searching through some documents in his study, John found a brochure from a beauty clinic, with "cosmetic surgery" highlighted.

John examined the photo closely and noticed a reflection of a clock in the corner, showing the time: 11:23 PM.

He sank to the floor, trying to convince himself it was just a coincidence.

At that moment, he received another message from Andrew.

"John, I remember your wife had a mole on her neck."

Sitting on the floor, John's mind raced.

He tried to steady himself, but the message, the ointment, and Andrew's reminder were undermining his fragile trust.
