Charlie POV:

I couldn't help but wonder what my father meant by what he said earlier. I would be sorry?

There was a knock on the door. Hoping it would be Lucas, I rushed to open the door. To my disappointment, it was Nina.

"Whoa. Calm down freak." She said pushing by me.

"Hello, Nina." My mother said with a smile on her face. "Hello, Luna. I heard that Alpha Cross is here for a few days." She said with a little too much excitement.

"Oh yes! You'd really like him, dear." My mom said suggestively. I knew what they were doing. They were trying to push Lucas away from me.

"I heard he really likes girls." Nina said. What? "He does?" I blurted out. Nina scowled at me. "Don't get any ideas. I mean, really? Look at you." She said before leaving the room with my mother.

There was another knock a few minutes later.

The smiling face I saw on the other side filled me with relief.

"Hey, beautiful." He said before kissing my cheek. "I'm sorry, I'm late. I was up talking to my sister and over slept." He told me.

"It's okay." I said with a smile on my face.

"You must be Alpha Cross." I heard Nina behind me. She held her hand out to him. "I'm Nina." She continued.

Lucas frowned slightly. "Hello, Nina." He said completely ignoring her out reached hand.

"Would you like to go for some lunch after my meeting?" Lucas asked me.

"What my wife means Alpha, is that my daughter is very timid." Alpha Smith started. "Tell me something I don't know. I know she's timid. She's shy and nervous. That doesn't mean I want someone else. She's my mate and I'm grateful for that. You won't be changing my mind." I said, turning to leave.

I stopped short and turned to them. "Oh, and tell Nina if she didn't dress like such a slut, she might actually get somewhere." I said before slamming the door behind me.

I saw Charlie and instantly calmed down.

"Are you okay, Lucas?" She asked worriedly. I smiled adoringly at her. How can someone treat an innocent woman so badly?

"I'm fine, beautiful. You ready for lunch?" I asked. Her face perked up instantly. "Yes." She said excitedly. "Great." I said and wrapped my arm around her waist.

I saw Nina and instantly steered Charlie away from her.

"Are you sure you don't want me to join you, Alpha?" She asked. "I'm sure." I said without looking at her. My eyes were glued to my mate. I couldn't wait to get her out of this hell she calls home.
