Charlie POV:
Lucas made sure that my parents didn't bother me as I packed my bags.
Though we had no idea, Nina had been there until Lucas had walked away with mom and dad.
She stormed into my room and stared at me.
"What do you want?" I asked. "You're leaving with Alpha Cross? Why?" She asked. "That's my business, Nina. Go before he gets upset." I told her.
"You can't have him." Nina said as she stepped closer.
"Is there a problem here?" Lucas asked as he walked in the room.
Nina turned and gave him a flirty smile. "I was actually looking for you." She told him.
It was obvious that Nina made him uncomfortable. "Sorry, Charlie and I have to go." He told her.
"Tomorrow?" She asked. "We're leaving early in the morning. Sorry." He said before leading me back to the car.
Nina actually started following us to the car. Seriously?
"When will you be back?" She asked him.
Lucas POV:
"Nina, I'm not coming back. I'm leaving here with Charlie, my mate. So I'm begging you, stop embarrassing yourself by throwing yourself at me. It makes me uncomfortable." I told her hatefully.
"Mate? This girl?" She asked crossing her arms.
"We need to go before I take control and kill this whore." My wolf told me. "I agree." I responded before helping Charlie into the car.
As we drove back to the hotel, I looked over at Charlie. She was happy and relaxed.
"We made her feel this way." My wolf purred. I smiled softly at those words.
I heard his wolf purr loudly at my words. "Of course." He said.
"Can I take a shower?" I asked him. "Of course, baby. You don't have to ask.
"He called you baby!" My wolf shouted in my head. I bit my lip softly before reaching up and placing a gentle kiss on his cheek.
I quickly turned to the bathroom so he wouldn't see my face turn red.
I was told my entire life that if I found my mate, I would surely be rejected. I believed it, until I saw the look in Lucas's eyes when he saw me for the first time.
When I turned the water off, I heard Lucas on the phone.
"Mom, for the hundredth time, I'm not telling you what it is... Mom, for God sa-.... Sorry, mom... Look, I'll be home tomorrow and you can see for yourself.... You'll love it. I promise... Love you too, mom. Good night."
I wasn't eavsdropping or anything, just happened to overhear, and what I heard put a smile on my face.
